More like a prelude to a big reveal. There isn't really much we didn't know that has been revealed.

Question is whether we get to see this flashback to the end or we move back to some random fight.

In Peter Pan the pirates are the bad guys, but in OP they're the good guys or at least the main crew is. So to have Peter, Wendy, Lost Boys, and the Indians be the bad guys would be right.
