This chapter didn’t really seem to lean into Kuzan having a change of heart, as he didn’t seem to show regret over Garp getting stabbed and Koby almost getting hurt even though they used to be on the same side.

So if anything, maybe it could possibly leaning into Kuzan going closer to the dark path despite what he told Smoker.

After all, what he said to Smoker was in the past, but the present is now, one where he didn’t hold back in going up against his former comrades, if Chapter 1087 is anything to go by.

not sure if anybody noticed this, but during the training flashback, you can see kuzan's punches (yellow) having a weak SFX and eventually they get loud enough the same as garp's punches (red)

Yep Kuzan was dishing out the same force with his punches as Prime Garp did.
At least in physical strength we can say that Kuzan is very near Prime Garp while Akainu is even stronger than Kuzan.

The only odd one outs here are teach and Issho. Teach cause he has almost no haki feats and hasn’t even been shown to have CoC yet and Issho who has a weaker devil fruit than the other admirals as a mere Paramecia.

Garp was brilliant this chapter. Everyone came out well except for Koby. Shiryu finally got some feat by penetrating past 80 year old Garp. Kuzan was able to match Garp. Really can’t understand Kuzan’s motivations. Think he knows Koby is genuinely good character and he is still willing to sacrifice genuine characters and innocent civilians captured by BB to further his own ambitions?? Need Garp to show some more hype moments man. Alvaro in the end lol. I wonder who is coming to rescue these guys? Sengoku? Tsuru? All old gen fighting together to rescue new gen?
