Yeah at least the begginings of these arcs made you interested in what would happen next. This one fails to do so.
Punk Hazard opening: mysterious harpy (which believed to be next nakama since it was still beginning of New World), Law, Smoker

Dressrosa opening: Doffy quits Shichibukai, mysterious toys, the rule to "must go back home at 9 PM" gives mystery vibes

WCI opening: Disneyland, first time seeing a full Yonko crew, high expectations for Big Mom Pirates (which destroyed at second half of the arc)

Zou opening: what happened to Sanji's team, Jack's debut, 1 billion bounty hype

Wano opening: what happened to Wano hats while Luffy's team were on WCI, high expectations for Beast Pirates and Wano samurai

Elbaf: lego, hide and seek with cat fodder, more Sun God crap, more Nika crap, expectation already low the arc will turn into Nika wank fest of entire island.

The story has fell off recently though you can't deny that
I enjoyed Egghead quite a bit even though it had questionable writing in some parts

Wano was meh though

There's some merit to your statement for sure, but at the same time I think OP's just gone on for so long that we generally expect some kind of main plot connection almost immediately. We had an ongoing plot all of post-timeskip with the Yonko arc until it ended at Wano. Egghead then hit the ground running having Bonney and VP show up/saying he's going to die. This Elbaf start doesn't really make much sense right now but I'm sure it will in a few chapters. Hopefully.
Most arcs usually have a bit of setup going into them. I can’t think of many new island arcs in One Piece that don’t have at least 2-3 chapters of essentially nothing happening till we get to the main plot

I have been for a time, for several years I had been very sold on One Piece, but then the second half of WCI and Wano happened.
I’m not saying you never were a One Piece fan. I’m pointing out that you very clearly haven’t been a big fan of One Piece or Oda for at least a few years

I joined WorstGen years ago and you’ve been jaded since back then (Wano had that effect on quite a few people)

You weren’t sold on Wano, you weren’t sold on Egghead, and as you’ve stated many times you’ve completely lost faith in Oda’s ability to write a cohesive story

Why would you be sold on Elbaf?

I just pointed out that it sounded more like a rhetorical question than a legitimate one

This sun god shit is getting old.
Oda isnt even hiding this retcon deity he added this late into the story.
If it's such an integral part of Giant culture and faith, he should have added mention of it earlier back in Little Garden by Dorry and Broggy.
Why would they? They already mention the god of elbaf. It seems you guys don't understand what a retcon is. Imu was never foreshadowed yet he isn't a retcon. Why would Nika be?

A chapter of all time indeed

I guess Oda is trying to do an “adventure side story” here so I can’t say he’s doing it badly… its whatever

Oda is just dangling that Sweet Sweet Nika lore to get people interested but unfortunately I don’t give a shit… every time sun god is mentioned I get even less interested
