I think the BBP could end up freeing Loki.

It would make the most sense. Loki thought Shanks was a coward because he wasn’t as extreme in his opposition to the WG. Teach is probably a terrorist like Xebec and hence Loki might be more amenable to him.

Shiryu and whomever Sanji fights get booted from Teach’s crew.

Meanwhile Sword and the marines clash with Cross Guild and Buggy and Croc get captured. Mihawk ultimately ends up joining the BBP, replacing Shiryu.

That ultimately allows for Luffy vs Teach, Zoro vs Mihawk, Sanji vs Kuzan in the final battle.

Oda is not so strict with shonen rules...if he was, G5 wouldn't have come in wano but maybe after elbaf or in elbaf....Kaido was a top 1 character, Luffy ain't.... so except Imu and Akainu (if retconned), none can be stronger than Kaido....

If you don't care for the writing, that's your prerogative. I'd personally enjoy it more if the story, in particular its characters, had a level of consistency. If the scene plays out like it says it does, this really damages Luffy's character, whether you like it or not. Luffy is supposed to have learnt certain things along the way, but the past arcs are showing that he really hasn't

Oda can't have it both ways, he tries to pretend Luffy has become more mature and careful at times (like with Sabaody/Marineford), but then undoes it in scenes like this. The Mock Town bar scene is really strange if you compare it with this. Did his character regress?

Luffy will always be a hot head that is part of him and he only 19 .
You saw it like last 3 to 4 arcs just people had no issues with it cause it was for good or what ever else.
He going to have it both ways cause people do act in both ways .

He was partcipant in the arc where a certain good written character solved his daddy issues without hitting him, he could have taken notes

In mock town he keep a cooler head about certain aspect and here he did not with loki bait .
Which is find if you don't like but it classic loke lore which what oda want to show .

Yeah, it's totally cohesive. Luffy smiles and laughs while fighting Kaidou who beat up a bunch of his friends, and threatens to enslave/kill his entire crew and the nation. He's rolling on the floor laughing while Vegapunk gets skewered and then runs away like a bitch while not caring where the rest of his crew is or even the fact that Vegapunk is dead. He lets himself and Zoro get beat up and spit on, and them and Nami get sorely humiliated, and does nothing.

But when defenseless and chained-up Loki says, "Shanks gay lol," he loses his cool and uses G4 to threaten him.

I really dislike the argument of Oda just wanting to copy/paste mythology. It's lazy, and also doesn't excuse damaging your own story's character for it. I don't think it's worth it.

If he wants to go that route, why not have Loki say something actually biting? Is Oda really so terrible at writing he could think of nothing better than, "Shanks is a pussy"? It's sad.

yes, that's why he accepted Rayleigh's suggestion to train himself to get strong for new world...Ace dead because he was weak...as simple as that...if Ace were stronger than Akainu or at least near Akainu, he would not have died.
