People saying Saul should have stayed dead have a point but honestly, every other strawhat has at least one important person from their past: even Brook and Laboom. Yet Robin lost everyone. Her mother, the scholars and Saul. Now at least Saul survived and that's one person deeply important to Robin.

We still have Olivia and Clover, which was basically Robin's father figure. Saul was a guy she had met 2 weeks prior to the incident. For me it doesn't feel as cheap as pell or kin.

Child Law also lost everyone from his parents, sister, to Corazon. Among Donquxiote Family, only one close to him was Baby 5 but she sided with Doffy and later stayed with Sai than joining Law.
The difference is Law already met Bepo, Shachi and Penguin at 13 years old, while Robin must endured her shitty younger days for far longer. She only met the Straw Hats at 28 years old.

It really doesn’t if you think about it rationally. Robin still lived the majority of her life with that pain and tragedy. This doesn’t diminish her character at all. But I can understand when people say that it cheapens the impact of the backstory. This cute moment is a good tradeoff though.
