So, it turns out that this base that Yamato and Tama infiltrated actually belongs to...wait for it...Who's Who! Shock! Amazement! Wow! I don't think ANYONE saw that coming. Biggest surprise of the whole chapter, for sure.

Loki seems to be able to just see right through his bandages. It's not even like Loki's describing that Shamrock has a similar "aura" or something. He just says that he looks just like Shanks.

We get confirmation that Shanks is the younger twin. Probably not by a lot, just a few minutes at most. Still, interesting to keep in mind. If we're going by "royalty" rules, that would make Shamrock the "rightful heir" to the Figarland family. It's possible that Garling didn't even care that he lost his "spare backup" son.

Also, Shanks returning to Mariejois at some point is probably important. Could that be part of the reason that Shanks cried when Roger returned from Laugh Tale? Was that when Roger told Shanks he was a Celestial Dragon, and he hated himself for it? That might account for some of Shanks' missing years in the timeline. He might have spent a few years seeing if he fit in with the Celestial Dragons or seeing if he could change them from within?

And Shamrock DOES have a Devil Fruit...sort of. Cerberus the Biting Blade! Well, there are going to be Blackbeard fans who are going to be salty about that one. I'll be honest, I kind of forgot that "Devil Fruit Weapons" were an option in this universe. Didn't even cross my mind that Shamrock could have something like Funkfreed. That's actually kind of a clever twist. You don't "pollute" your body with a Devil Fruit, but you still gain control of the power of one. Most of the benefits with fewer drawbacks.

Gunko's Arrow Fruit can also make a giant bird you can ride on. That's convenient. This is a very versatile Fruit.

And it sounds like they're only calling in ONE more God's Knight as backup. I was expecting 5 or more, just because Oda loves huge groups. Plus, that would mean the Strawhats would be outnumbered. But, if there's only going to be one more of them, I'm going to guess it's whoever the new generation's version of the "Skull Reaper" God's Knight we saw in the God Valley flashback is. We saw Road dress up in a Skull Mask, so I think we're going to go full circle and find out more about what that's all about.

But, they do want to capture the kids. My guess is that Usopp protects all the Giant Kids, and they start to admire him as a "great warrior of the sea" that they all want to emulate. I'm guessing saving these kids will be Usopp's big hero moment for this arc.

Luffy is VERY loyal when it comes to Shanks. He's a "Super Cool Guy"! But, Luffy's still bad with names. "Tell-mare"...really Luffy.

And, okay, the Elbaph Silhouette shows up JUST when Luffy starts talking about Roger and his old crew. That definitely does feel like a big hint that this could be Scopper Gaban. And he's headed RIGHT for the castle, for some reason. Hmm...

And then we get to the Mural. Etched RIGHT into Yggdrasil the World Tree. From 800 to 900 years ago, in the middle of the Void Century. So, it probably is representing events that happened before the Void Century. Hard to say if the START of the Void Century or the ENDING of the century was more important, though. I guess something big could have happened to kick off the Void Century. Maybe when Joyboy accidentally used one of the Ancient Weapons?

"It was probably just some kid's dream" Hmm...now that feels like foreshadowing. Now, could Ripley be talking about Joyboy's dream? Or Imu's?

OOOH, but this Mural. I'm going to be pouring over this Mural for a while. And I want to see what other people have to say about the original Japanese version of this. Because there's probably a lot of wordplay and subtle clues here that could easily get lost in translation.

But, lets try to break it down a bit, just to see if we can figure anything out right off the bat.

The First World:
"The Earth burned in endless flame". Now, I'm VERY interested to find out if "The Earth" is referring to element or the literal planet. Are they talking about "our" planet Earth? Or a more general "planet". I really want to know the original Japanese words being used here.

"Beckoned by the enslaved who reached for the forbidden star" I feel like this is hinting that Humans were not originally from this planet, and were fleeing their own destroyed planet. But, that could be my own biases talking. But, the image of what looks to be skyscrapers and gears does feel like it invokes "our" planet Earth.

The "forbidden star" could be talking about Blue Star, the "official" name for the One Piece World. Or maybe it's talking about trying to tap into the power of the Sun for space travel? Maybe Humans tried to use the Sun as a power source and it backfired on them? That may be more likely, due to the existence of the Mother Flame. Or, a third option, the "forbidden star" just refers to the Sun, which the slaves down below mining things aren't allowed to see.

"The God of the Land was enraged" Probably referring to another of the Skypiean Gods. Again, though, this feels like it's hint that the Dragon Race didn't enjoy humans trying to take their world for their own.

"Darkness fell" Now, again, I'm curious about the wording. Could this be talking about the original Darkness Fruit user? Could this be wordplay, with the original Darkness Fruit user dying? Or is this talking about the Darkness Fruit rising to power?

"They would not meet again" Is this referring to "Darkness" and "Death"? The Sun and Land Gods?

In the Mural itself, it's kind of hard to make out what's happening due to everything being so abstract. But, I think I see "slaves" taking "Crystals" out of the ground in order to power their huge cities. And to power Uranos. Some of the "slaves" seem to have "halos" over their heads. So, I wonder if this could represent the spirits of the dead. Literally mining the Underworld? Could the Humans have been sending their dead into the Underworld in order to turn them into fuel that they then mined?

There's a person with a crown who looks a LOT like Imu. But, this could be Imu's predecessor, too. Hard to say. And they seem to be piloting all the Ancient Weapons. I think I see parts of the Noah/Poseidon and Uranos in the sky.

Carrying inside of it animals and people alongside "Angels". The "Angel" in this shot with the Noah seems to be different than our modern-day Lunarians, though, because they don't have a "flame" around them like one does in "Joyboy's army" in the Second World. So, maybe this is a Skypiean and the one on the other side is a Lunarian, thus one is a "Half-Moon" and the other is a "Full-Moon". Maybe Imu or Imu's predecessor originally worked WITH the Lunarians or Skypieans? They seem to be on the same side here.

Uranos is firing a bolt which seems to be helping the Giant Tree in the middle grow. Which most likely leads into the Second World. So, Uranos may actually help PLANT the Giant Trees we've seen all around the world. Like Yggdrasil and Ohara's Tree of Knowledge.

Also, note the three "Crystals" in the sky, around the Moon. This is likely related to Blackbeard. Wait until we get to the "Fallen Angel" in the Third World for more on that.

The Second World:

The most prominent part of this section of the Mural is the Giant Tree. And I find it interesting that there's what looks to be a Dragon at the top of the tree. So, maybe Elbaph's Heaven Layer is the original home to the Dragons? Plus, this "Tree Dragon" seems to be fighting the "God of the Land's Serpent of Flames". Which does seem to support the idea that there are actually two different factions of dragons. "Fire" and "Water" Dragons.

"A breath stirred in the Abyss" Again...I have to wonder if this has something to do with the Darkness Fruit. Someone that they thought was dead turned out to be not so dead after all?

"The God of the Forest wove their magic, nurturing it's Devils" So, the Forest God is responsible for creating Devil Fruits. Probably with help from the creation of the trees done by "Imu" and Uranos.

"Those of the Half-Cresent and Full-Moons dreamed" So, there's a difference between the "Half-Crescent" and "Full-Moon" people. One might be referring to the Lunarians. And the other may be referring to the people who populated the Moon. Given his connection to the moon, I just have to wonder if this all has something to do with Blackbeard. And then there's the Kozuki Clan using the symbol of the crescent moon. Hmm...there's a lot of possibilities of what this could be referring to. But, given these people are "dreaming", I think they're likely in suspended animation. So, most likely Lunarians and Skypieans. Or possibly another race we haven't seen, yet.

"Yet the one who slew the Sun deified themselves, evoking the wrath of the Sea God." This is most likely referring to the Celestial Dragons. Which means that this "Second World" IS the Void Century after all. So, the 20 Kings killing Joyboy is why the Sea God cursed all Devil Fruits. The Sea and the Sun God are NOT enemies. In fact, they seem to be pretty strong allies, if you parse this.

"They would not meet again." They repeat this line, so it must be important. This time, I think the "they" in this context is the Sun and Sea Gods. So, I think "death" is separating the Skypiean Gods, but eventually they will meet again in the next life when they are reborn.

Again, back to the mural, there seems to be a transition, and one side of this seems to just be Joyboy's army. We see ships sailing the Sun Symbol of Nika. Rain drops, which may represent the Rain God, which is the only one of the Skypiean Gods this Mural doesn't mention directly (though I wonder if the Rain God is the same as the Sea God). Island Whales like Laboon. A Lunarian as we've come to know them right above Joyboy himself. Emeth the Ancient Giant Robot. Minks. Tontatta. Viking Giants. The Mermaid Princess (Poseidon) that Joyboy made a promise with. A giant Koi, like the Island Eater on Little Garden. And even some people from Wano, if the topknots, katana, and shuriken are any indication. Some of the people on the lowest level I don't recognize, but they could be the Long Arms or Long Leg Tribes or other human groups from Islands we've been to, probably some from Dressrossa. I will note though, one of these boats near the bottom is black. Possibly related to the Man Marked By Flames?

Also, there is a single "Crystal" on this side of the Tree with Joyboy's army. I'm not sure what that means or represents.

There's two people in Joyboy's army that I want to highlight.

One is the "Ancient Giant" or "Oni" right beneath Joyboy. The one that looks like Loki holding a spear. I think it's potentially interesting that this person has a spear, while being so close to Joyboy. In our original look at Joyboy from Chapter 1018, Nika had a Sword and Spear. But, this new version of Nika has a Sword and Shield. I think this "Oni" Spear could be that same Nika Spear we originally saw. So, I feel like this is hinting that Loki may not have the Nika Fruit....but he might have the Fruit of a powerful ally of Joyboy's from the Void Century. I think there will be a link between Luffy's Fruit and Loki's Fruit. I think they might be old friends.

And then there's the..."Dragon Man" with a "Ghost-Child" hiding behind him. In the corner, between the Island Whale and Emeth. I don't think we've seen this race before. I could be forgetting something obvious. But, I think this may be a key piece of the puzzle. Because I think that cowering "Ghost Child" could actually be Imu!

Because we've seen another Mural kind of like this a long time ago. Made by Giolla in Chapter 722. In that mural, we saw someone with Imu's crown cowering in front of a door being shut. I think this "Ghost Child" we see in this Mural, could be Imu. Both murals seem to be depicting the same frightened "Ghost Child". Imu just found the crown of the Ancient King who originally used Uranos during the First World war while Joyboy was being murdered, and starting wearing it so that they would feel braver. I don't know HOW Giolla would have known any of this. But, I think Giolla's mural and this one are connected.

The Third World:

This is the present day. So, there's not a lot to say about it, otherwise.

"It's shadow looms as the voice of the Half-Moon echoes through the ages" Again, I feel like this has something to do with Blackbeard and the Darkness Fruit. Especially given this side of the Mural. The "Half-Moon" people are probably different than the "Half-Cresent" and "Full-Moon" people that were mentioned before. So...Blackbeard might have various types of Lunarian blood in him?

"Surely, this time, they will meet." I think this is probably referring to the Skpiean Gods all being reunited after various ones of them were killed in the previous wars. They've all likely been reborn in the present day, and Luffy's probably going to team up with them to fight the final villain.

I do wonder if this shadowy "Fallen Angel" holding the sun is supposed to represent what Joyboy's army was fighting against. And, I know I'm a broken record, but it's probably representing the Darkness Fruit. So, the true form of the Darkness Fruit is actually a corrupt Lunarian, perhaps? A literal "fallen angel"? Maybe that original "Angel" we see boarding Noah on the First World's side of the Mural?

There's also three of those "Crystals" above this "Fallen Angel". Which lines up with Blackbeard. Because, again, Blackbeard is associated with the number 3 a lot. So, the "crystals" are likely "souls". They COULD be Devil Fruits. But, if Devil Fruits were created in the Second World, they shouldn't be showing up in the First World's section of the mural. I think these "Crystals" are pure "soul power", if they used to be used to power Ancient Cities.

And there's one ship that seems to be on the "Fallen Angel"'s side. This is likely a group that betrayed Joyboy. Possibly representing the 20 Kings.

Plus...I just HAVE to wonder if Franky is blocking something important from "our" view. Something key right smack dab in the center of this Mural that might help better tie everything together. It would be JUST like Oda to hide something like that from view, in a way we might not expect.

Okay, so the TLDR of all that boils down to, that I think this is Mural is telling us:

In the First World, Humans played God with the Sun and got burned. They sent their dead underground, in order to later mine their souls as a fuel source. The spirits of the dead eventually ended up creating the Skypiean Gods, through "magical mutations" of the environment, bringing elements to life. The Skypiean Gods were upset with the humans for practicing slavery and desecrating the dead, so they tried put a stop to it. The Land God in particular was enraged by what the Humans did. Birthing Dragons in order to go to War with the Humans. Then one human "king" started using the Ancient Weapons to plant trees that would keep the souls of the dead from being able to escape the underwold, thus continuing the fight. The Skypiean Gods lose this first fight. (Yes, the Giant Trees may be a bad thing that needs to be destroyed. I know that goes against decades of environmental teachings, but I think that's where Oda's going with this.)

The Second World is the Void Century. The Devil Fruits are made by the Forest God. The Sun God collects a army of every race to stop the actions of the Humans. Joyboy is killed by the Celestial Dragons. Thus leading to the Sea God to curse all Devil Fruits so they wouldn't be able to use them.

The Third World is the present day. The world is trapped in stasis unable to change. The Darkness Fruit will likely be making it's move soon. Luffy's going to use the Sun God powers to unite with the other Skypiean Gods to take down the Darkness Fruit and free all the trapped souls underground, who were being used as fuel by the Humans so long ago. Thus, finally healing the world.

...At least that's all my best guesses. We'll have to see if anyone with the Japanese raws can shed some light with the Japanese version of this.

WHOO, that was a lot! Big chapter! Sorry about all...this. I just need to get my thoughts down.

It is vague, we can just endlessly theorize without a definitive answer, even the things that look somewhat obvious will probably not be what we originally thought.
It’s not supposed to be clear, I can tell your takes are whack because you are complaining about it not being clear

I will look over this in more detail while I’m working on my megatheory post coming soon

I think you get some things right and some things wrong here, I will have my own megatheory post in the next few days, check back for it.

One thing I like that you bring up is the substantial possibility that Franky is blocking out a small detail from our perspective, which may be revealed any time.

I'm thinking Urouge is going to show up at some point in Elbaph (maybe on the top layer?) or soon after and give us some more lore about the first world. The first world seems connected to the sky people more than the second, and he can give us some knowledge of Birka which we know very little about. Plus he has a religious theme and all religions point to Sun God/Nika at this point, so I assume he'll have knowledge or a unique interpretation of him.

Edit: Adding on to this, we see the maxim, lightning (df?) and a man acting as a god on the right side of the mural. Very reminiscent of Enel. Maybe the Goro Goro fruit and Maxim were passed down in Birka like psuedo-ancient weapons. Maybe there was a deeper reason he destroyed Birka.

Apparently Birka was the name of a trading port during viking times as well, so possible Elbaph connection? Maybe it was above the Adam tree or nearby?

Wow looks like there are two enemies Imu and the serpent .

It’s clear Imu is a dragon from the second world and the serpent from first world is dormant and Imu probably controls it .

Really hyped to be honest because events in Elbaf will lead to final war I believe .

No wonder Oda just told new readers to skip everything and start with the final saga, it's like fans of the previous 1000 chapters are just world 1 and 2 slaves that got erased by the void

ok it looks like First war happened between God of earth becoming angry when slaves ate forbidden fruit from the Adam’s tree the first of it was Nika was born .

God of earth unleashed serpent of hell and engulfed world in flames and Slaves wanted Nika to fight them .

In my sense it looks like Nika sacrificed his life to defeat serpent and Earth God and both were defeated .

Second part of story is obviously about Ancient kingdom becoming powerful due to devil fruit technology . Imu probably gained the power of Earth god and serpent and along with celestial dragon .

Big question is how did Imu gain the power of serpent and the dragon :DeepThink:

Imagine if when Bellamy told Luffy in Dressrosa that he reached and pillaged the sky island, we got a flashback of Bellamy in a spot that the SHs hadn't explored and this mural was etched there :steef:

Moon people can be:
- Lunarians
- Birkans, Skypieans, Shandia
- Wano clans (all except Kurozumi are moon related in name)
- Minks (Sulong connection)
Its the Birkans

That angel that is going to the moon has the Birkan wings.
There is also a city called Birka in the moon

Of course, there is also a King going to the moon in the image. But he still a mystery
