Putting one down for good is not happening. Gaban gassed out after putting his all into avoiding only base Luffy, who wasn’t being serious enough to block for himself because he didn’t take the old man seriously. The only major older man that Luffy has ever met that he didn’t say “wow you’re strong”.

In Kuri he got hit clean head on cause no Future Sight ---> beginning of roofpiece = half avoided half got clipped cause he used FS but was in base ---> Finally when he dodged it clean he used both Future Sight and Gear 2nd.

Got literally nothing to do with ACoC, he just used his precognition with his gears movement speed, where he didn't do both together.
