This is why One Piss will always be a bit dumb. Oda isn't good with some of the bigger picture like this sometimes. Warcury complained that Jimbei leaving the warlords would hurt fishman relations with the WG/humans. Bro, what do you think will happen if Charlos kidnaps their princess lmfao?
How this fanbase have somehow made Sommers the main villain of this arc, based of nothing but vibes alone absolutely blows my mind lol. Has a bunch of medals and sits with his legs crossed so he's the Shamrock replacement 
Design scaling will never cease to amaze me. Reality is we had both Kiringham and Sommers get called up to take Shamrock's place but nah, let's forget that little detail coz vibes 💀
Anyways, Oda adding Gaban to the mix in a situation that looks extremely unfavorable for the gods knights given the sheer amount of military might on Elbaf's side is surprising to say the least. Gunko's already predicting that things will most likely go tits up given the SHs on the island but wait till she finds out that Gaban is as well
His appearance doesn't really bode well for the non-M3 SHs to get some shine now that the M3 are gone temporarily but well will be interesting to see how Oda goes about nullifying his threat. Would be interesting to see just how far the combined hax of the holy knights can help mitigate that threat. Colon showing up on the battlefield is already a potential nerf, coz you just know he's gonna get captured lol. It'd also be interesting to see what Colon's fears are. Reckon we could potentially get Gaban face of against that, maybe an evil version of himself even or even Ripley which would be a massive nerf if Gaban is anything like Sanji

Gaban will start flexing and and putting everyone down…until Colon gets trapped by Sommers. Sommers will reveal that his awakening allows him to transfer any attacks or damage done by his opponent onto those who he has trapped in the thorns, the caveat is that the damage is magnified by the attackers love for the trapped target. Sommers will say that even a paper cut will be lethal. Gaban then immediately surrenders and Sommers will start freely attacking Gaban. Ripley will step in and try to take the hit but Sommers is stronger than her so she passes out. This will infuriate Gaban, who will use a form he hasn’t used in over 25 years. Gaban’s alter ego will surface which he refers to as Balck Heart, in which he becomes a feral speed demon like Hakuba/Cavendish who exhibits no emotion and so attacks both foe and friend alike.
Given that he has not attachment, he’ll brutalise Sommers, but will then be a danger to everyone there. Until Ripley steps in and calms him down with the power of love.

Most were saying that he was simply going to fight either Zoro or Sanji, and if not them then one of the other Straw Hats.
As for him being Shamrock's replacement, I mean he kind of does feel like it.
Shamrock tells Gunko to call one more, when both Killingham and Sommers both arrive, Killingham is already all dressed up and ready, but not Sommers.
To me this feels like Shamrock told Gunko to summon Killingham but then in the last moment Sommers was told that he had to go to Elbaf as well.
We even have this panel of Sommers, where he is talking to someone most likely one of the Elders, saying he is willing to go, and to give him a minute. This is him still sitting on his chair in his casual clothes, again implying that he was sent in at the last moment to replace Shamrock.
Now him being Shamrock's replacement doesn't mean that he is on the same level as him or that he will be the main villain of the arc.
Also imo Sommers is a bit more important compared to Killingham and Gunko, remember that he is from the same family as Ju Peter one of the Five Elders.
Killingham is from a CD Family whose family name was just introduced and we don't know anything about Gunko.
Shamrock on the other hand is from the Figarland Family, same family that Garling and Shanks are from.
Then there is Sommers who is from the Shepherd Family, same family that Ju Peter is from.
Anyways we have to wait and see whether or not Sommers will end up being a bum or not.
