For the Gaban - Sommers thing, it's unclear. Sommer's dialog doesn't make him look worried at all, but their dialog is interesting since it means they met in the past (In God Valley?)

That they don't even consider the more likely option that the entirety of God's Valley was just a complete battle royal with no definitive alliances.

I think it's as simple as him acknowledging Gabans presence, but this is a fair point

Entirely possible Sommers is a psycho that can shrug off the permanent loss of a limb like nothing, but I doubt it.

If he's immortal and he knows Gaban, he's probably been around for a while. It's probably been a long time since he lost any part of himself permanently. I think he'd react much differently if that were the case.

I think he'll just regen like normal or a little slower next chapter, or perhaps it's temporarily blocked because of Gaban's Haki, idk.

Just because the Roger Pirates and Garp's Marines worked together doesn't mean the Knights were a part of that alliance.

I imagine the fighting took place all over the island and there were areas where Roger and Garp and their underlings worked together, and areas where pirates, Marines and Knights were scrapping out indiscriminately.

Garp brought Marines with him. We don't know the full extent but I think it's a fair assumption standard fodder tiers were there and were following orders not to attack the Roger Pirates.

That does make sense. Joyboys haki forced the Gorosei to go back and into their normal forms too.

Stopping the regeneration temporarily would be better than just taking it down permanently so easily too.

IF Gaban actually has a counter to regen, I'd bet it's temporary and involves imbuing the immortal with foreign Haki that needs to be filtered out or allowed to run its course like a poison.
