@SakazOuki you once described Gwyn vs Nameless as Odin vs Thor, and I can’t think of a more apt comparison. Gwyn is more powerful in an outright sense, Nameless is the better warrior.

What’s interesting though is that Thor at his peak in some media is often depicted as being more powerful than Odin at his peak. This is true in Marvel and also seems to be how Record of Ragnarok is going. Odin knows more complex magic while Thor is more of a simplistic warrior but is just outright stronger.

So Nameless being outright more powerful than Gwyn is also on the table. Nameless outlived Gwyn by like, millions of years depending on how you interpret the whole DS timeline, and Nameless has Gwyn’s blood so him having the framework to surpass big papa is on the table.

Itachi didn’t want to fight Jiraiya because Itachi is loyal to Konoha. Part 1 has wacky statements anyways, like Hiruzen > Hashirama and Byakugan > Sharingan. If you take all these statements at face value, you’d have to conclude that Jiraiya > Itachi >> Orochimaru > Jiraiya
