Here's a tough one.

Yorknew or Chimera?


I like Yorknew more, it features all my fave characters, Kurapika, Chrollo, Hisoka, and is better paced with non stop action.


But Chimera is the better written one imo. Meruem and his development are both stellar.


Could argue it's the best character development in manga, up there with Thorfinn's and Canute's for instance. Not to say that Meruem is the best written character in manga tho.

Greed Island is probably my least favourite arc ngl. It suffers from being inbetween Yorknew and Chimera for sure tho.

I really dig it. It has the potential to be the best HxH arc, which is saying a lot.

It features Kurapika so that's an instant plus as well.

The way it blends political intrigue, psychological warfare and tactics is awesome and something I really appreciate.

It introduced a new setting with the princes and everything. And the mind games are always my cup of tea.

Can't wait to see Tserri in action as well, and Kurapika murking him.

Tbh I am not caught up, I dont even remember where I left off, I´ll just start the arc from the begining I guess. I always liked the political aspects to HXH, it´s pretty fun and cynical. I remember a big deal in the chimera ant arc is the bigger countries have to be careful about what they do because it basically takes place in North Korea

The reason I favour Heavens Arena is cuz it's more fast paced and tighter. I like when we get to learn about the power systems and dynamics of it where they end up learning it. Hisoka as the main antagonist and opposing figure also plays a role in making the arc more enjoyable for me. Not to say that Greed Island is bad, it's still very good, but like I said, has the misfortune of being inbetween CA and Yorknew as well so gets flack for that too.
