Well Sanji fans won. All they wanted is to be attached to Zoro and Oda has cemented he will always come back to this.

Rayleigh had more aura than Roger arguably, and objectively more aura than the Yonkou. And Oda is now shitting all over that by turning him into Roger's bickering waterboy. Wings is such a bad look for Rayleigh.

That's the issue with One Piece, Oda doesn't let characters be their own man. You can be under a Captain, does not mean your entire existence has to revolve around glazing the man. The constant parallels just make it worse, stripping away individuality even further. At this point, the Monster Trio and Roger-Ray-Gaban don’t even feel like characters anymore just a bunch of templates.

I stopped being a Zoro fan when I realized the dude is just an extension of Luffy glaze, couldn't bare it any longer.

And thing is i was happy when Scopper Gaban was introduced and portrayed strong enough to bully Luffy and i like the fact that in his prime he's yonko level.

But Rayleigh name calling is just disgusting.

What's set in stone is that Zoro wants to surpass Mihawk and become the greatest swordsman. Mihawk can lose to some9ne who zoro beats and nothing is broken. Legit look at this scrub sweating at the idea of fighting yonko and think if Zoro beating him will be the end of the manga

Zoro used to threaten Luffy in the past, Law was the closest an ally got to sharing the spotlight with Luffy, and in 1 arc's time he nearly overtook Luffy in the popularity poll. Oda got a heart attack and made sure to dial it back several notches in the following arcs, and made sure he turns into a Luffy glazer too.

This is why modern One Piece just doesn't feel right, It's like the author begging his readers to like Luffy over everyone else. It seeps through the writing, and feels completely manufactured. A mangaka should never worry about shit like popularity polls, he should have a story to tell, and however his readers take it that's how they take it.

The irony is that if you're not a loser self-inserting as the MC, Luffy was much more likeable pre-ts when he wasn't a god worshipped by everyone.

YYH was a prototype, it wouldve had the potential to if the ending wasnt rushed. Not Togashis fault though. Also HxH is far more complex and his character building was far better in HxH than YYH who focused mainly on a few characters only.

He had One Piece on lock at the time, if that trend continued for even till the end of Dressrosa, Luffy was in danger of being completely overtaken in the polls. Wasn't about to happen on Oda's watch.

Legit shouldve been Law and Luffy vs Doffy in the final fight imo.

Just like the Roof top shouldve been a teamfight.

Instead Oda gave Luffy like 3-4 powerups in a row to be able to handle things.

I actually don't think ZKK was a bad idea story wise. Zoro living up to Ryuma's legend by killing a mythical dragon in front of the flower capital? Better than big punch.
But in a series like One Piece this was NEVER going to happen. Luffy has to finish the arc villain, it is what is.
