Black blades are worth less than basic armament in terms of offering combat advantage tbh

Pretty much, it's more of like a trophy that you get when fully mastering your swordsmanship and basic armament haki, Zoro had a black blade, yet he became a much stronger fighter when he exchanged it for a non-black blade.
