Yeah, I don't get Sengoku's downplay. Aside from WB, Roger and even Kong's words, he has a clear duo-dynamic with Garp.

He lacks feat as even Xebec lacked feats until now, but he'll show.

Sad truth is i don't think we will see any feats with him.
Since he not connected to any major aspect fo the story line like these other people .
For eg when we get the roger flashback it will most likley focus of garp since he end up taking in Ace.

The easiest way to tell how this is a clear case of leeching is by playing a game of substitution.

You can substitute post Yonkou reveal Shanks scenes with Xebec and they all make sense. Heck these are Xebec level no less.

-Defeating Loki

You absolutely cannot substitute Mihawk with Xebec and the scenes make sense.
-Being lumped together with the rest of the Warlords during the great war
-Marco being confident in sending Vista to stop him, Vista smiling in Xebec's face saying postponement would benefit them both.
-Crocodile stopping Xebec's advance during the war.
-Xebec and Crocodile working together as equal partners under Buggy the Clown

I don't even like Shanks one bit, prefer Mihawk any day of the week but there's just no point to me lying about these cartoon characters. Oda has no intention at making Mihawk this larger than life character greater than Shanks, let alone Xebec. If he did, we wouldn't have gotten the scenes we already got. I'd love to be proven wrong, but everytime Shanks is mentioned or shown it's some godlike moment.

I’m with you, man… there’s absolutely no shot that Mihawk is stronger than Xebec lol. I don’t think anybody believes that anyways. As for the Shanks comparison or even any other elevated top-tier, Mihawk just doesn’t pass the eye test. Oda clearly doesn‘t care about Mihawk but he does care about Zoro — and that’s the meat of the argument. Tough call which direction he’ll go with this tbh. I mean I like Mihawk too, his design in particular is topnotch but Oda just doesn’t give him anything lol.

Let's agree that Mihawk is inferior to Xebec, Roger, etc.

This is a shonen manga, so it's pretty much confirmed that eos Zoro will be the strongest swordsman of all time.

Oda decided to make Xebec a swordsman.
