Chapter Discussion ONE PIECE CHAPTER: 1156: IDOLS

Not as massively big a chapter as last one, but enjoyble enough. The first half is basically just Oda tying up the Shakky story with her being chased by Garp, and how she gets with Ray. It’s interesting that we still aren’t seeing the beginning of the Roger Garp rivarly, it suggests that despite this flashback showing so much of the old gen there’s probably going to be a bit more to come in the future. Think we can also see why he’s called Iron Garp with how he tanked that attack.
The Rocks pirates are all pretty cool, as expected. Pretty good hype for 15/16 year old, DF Kaido to be able to wreck the joint in a fight with Rocks. Silver Axe has a cool design.
The plan is interesting. My first thought is that we need an Ancient Giant King to take the Galley La shipwrights and get Pluton - shipwrights I think obviously made it, given the shared name with Water 7. Ancient Giant King I’m presuming being why Rocks needs Harald to eat it (and why Loki has ate it now). I’m not sure why a DF is needed for it though. The obvious guess for the other one Rocks is looking for is one of Luffy’s or the Yami ( maybe the Gura as well) but I’d prefer if it was a new one. Suppose an outside guess would also be Kaido’s and Kuma’s, since they were prizes at God’s Valley.

I actually really like Xebec’s characterization this chapter
Unlike Blackbeard he really does consider certain people to be his friends. He almost drew his blade at the mere suggestion of attacking Harald and forcing him to join
Not to mention he’s incredibly patient with people. We’re now years into this flashback yet Xebec keeps going back to Elbaf constantly asking Harald to join him
He feels like a really weird mixture of Luffy and Blackbeard and I think that’s intentional. He’s a schemer that knows how to bide his time but he can also be incredibly reckless
