Shonen Jump is doing a collaboration with Pokemon, so everyone gets a Pokemon on the cover. Luffy gets Pikachu! That's...actually kind of a terrible matchup, honestly. It'd be a funny interaction, like Luffy and Enel. But, I don't feel like Pikachu really suits Luffy, even if they are both the "mascots" of their franchises. But, what Pokemon DOES suit Luffy best? Sanji could get Blaziken, because of fiery kicks. And Zoro could get Aegislash, because swords. Franky could get Golurk, because robots. Nami could get Castform, because weather. Usopp could get the Sobble/Intellion line, because it starts off as a crybaby and eventually becomes a sniper. Chopper could get Comfey, because it's a healing Pokemon and the flowers are pretty close to the sakura flowers of Drum Island. Robin could have a Runerigus, because archeology. Brook could have a Houndstone, because skeletons, but it'd be cute to have a dancing dog like Ryme's doggie. Jinbe could have...any given water type really, but I'll go with a Palafin, because why not? Those are pretty easy. But, Luffy's kind of tough. Victini, because it's a fiery upbeat mythical you can get at the start of the game? Wiglett, because of stretching? Terapagos, because it starts out kind of goofy and cute, but reveals itself to be super-powerful later? Koraidon, because it's a legendary who loves to travel and loves sandwiches? You know what? I'm going with Koraidon for Luffy. I think they'd have fun together.
Our color page shows us the parallels between Sanji and Scopper, Zoro and Rayleigh, and Luffy and Gol D Roger. With a bunch of teeny tiny Strawhats getting carried around by Luffy. Except for Nami, who's also just there in the background with no one paralleling her. Is this hinting about something for Nami? What are you hiding right in front of our eyes, Oda!?
It's time for Amazon LORE-ly! I guess Oda just wanted to draw some girls! I can't blame him. We're getting some of the information we already learned from a SBS in the main story. And I appreciate that. That shows that even if something appears in a SBS, Oda might still choose to expand on it later. Zoro's family line could still become important! I wouldn't hold my breath, but it's possible.
It's REALLY ironic that Gloriosa wishes she could "shed her beauty", given she's a little old lady in the present day. Be careful what you dream about! We even get to see Tritoma, who was previously SBS only!
I guess the person Gloriosa loved was Roger. But, Roger seems to have a thing for Shakky! And Shakky seems to have a thing for Rayleigh! What is this? Archie Comics, all the sudden? Roger was a Shakky-simp?! Okay, this just makes me wonder how Rayleigh finally won over Shakky. Now I need to see THAT side story!
Man, it's weird seeming Roger and Garp in their younger years. Roger still has the Straw Hat. I don't think we've seen this attack from Roger before. Ara-Mitama. Hmm...I guess it literally means "Wild Heart" or "Brazen Soul", which I guess fits a younger Roger with a burning heart. It's actually one of four parts of the human soul. The others being Nigi-Mitama (Gentle Spirit), Saki-Mitama (Happy/Lucky Spirit), and Kushi-Mitama (Miraculous/Wise Spirit). Huh...four parts of the soul. I wonder if that relates to the Four Gods in some way? I could see the Four Gods also having alignments with these four Mitama Spirits.

Ida continues to be the best. She even offers Lil' Loki the chance to live with her, but he's too much of a brat to accept. So, did Loki almost drown because he's a bad sailor, or because he already has his Devil Fruit?
And we see Lil' Mato, the eventual bartender at Ida's Bar. I guess she was just hanging around watching this train-wreck play out?
And we see Hachinosu...without it's trademark eyes and skull-shape. Huh. I guess the idea is probably that it started to look more like a skull as more people moved to live there and bored holes into the mountain? They even call the island more "fish-shaped" during this flashback. It's the hideout that smiles back (Goldfish!)! I feel like I should recognize some of these background pirates, but none of them stand out to me.
And we finally get to see Silver Axe! AKA Kyo the Hitman! He's Shiki's rival? Okay. Random bit of lore there. I feel like there's a joke or reference that I'm not getting.
And we get to see the Hachinosu that we know of get formed! Rocks just wanted to redecorate! And we STILL don't know what his Devil Fruit is.
Rocks is after two Devil Fruits. One's the Legendary Fruit of Elbaph...whatever that turns out to be. Could the other one be Blackbeard's Darkness Fruit? He's also after the Gale-Ra Warhammer Company Giants, for some reason. Okay, we're slowly filling in some blanks. Bringing back the Gale-Ra Giants seems like a good reason for why Blackbeard tried to recruit Moria, for his Shadow Powers. Odd that the Gale-Ra Giants are so important, when we seemed to have left them behind back on Punk Hazard. Maybe Smoker will bring them back into the main story? Maybe that's what was in Smoker's Mystery Cube? Frozen Giants?
Captain John! (Is "Captain" actually his "family" name?) Charlotte Linlin! Streusen! Kaido! Barbell! (The Fishman we saw during the God Valley Flashback!). EVERYONE IS HERE!
And Rocks...doesn't want to force Harald to obey him. Huh. Okay, that sure SEEMS like that's another check in the "good guy" column. Rocks really doesn't seem like that bad of a guy at times. Maybe there's a twist to all this. Or maybe he just needs Harald to follow him of his own free will for his plans to all align. But, for right now, Blackbeard's dad is actually a semi-decent dude.
