Imho, Garp looked simply better against top tiers.
If you look at Akainu vs WB, before WB rage moment and cheapshot, Akainu was clean; WB never even managed to hit him and Akainu blocked both his Saijo (with hand in pockets) and his Gura Gura attacks (with a Dai Funka?):
Has never hit Aokiji or Kizaru too.

need to see the panels to actually know wagwan but I mean it could simply be that everyone on Roger's ship was fawning over Shakky and Rayleigh was indifferent (akin to how Luffy and Zoro are usually are) hence Shakky's interest in Rayleigh kinda like how Luffy/Hancock developed. In a sense I'm kinda glad Roger is actually interested in women as opposed to Luffy lol
Also not exactly sure why Oda is highlighting this dynamic but we know Glorosia joined Rocks even though she was apparently love sick for Roger so maybe there is going to be something that comes of that in relation to God Valley. At least I hope coz Glorosia joining Rocks at this point doesn't make much sense with this development.
I don't really think this hurts rogue in anyway, if anything Roger might have been a cassanova like Gaban in his younger days lol

WB's endurance was much better though and his AP put akainu down for some time where as pizarro endured garp's attack.
Also akainu's magma is not the same as Kuzan's freezing which WB also got out of. We do not know how the fight between WB and Kuzan would have gone had it continued. Also this is sick weakened WB.

I'm referring to the difference in respect/portrayal
Hell there were literally songs made known by little kids to tell how much of a monster Whitebeard was to the point they gathered the entire WG forces(Marines + Shichibukai) just for him

Since they both are from the same era, he is only 6 years younger. Yet he has the title, not Garp.
