Sengoku told other MARINES (who work for the CD) that they fought to protect the CD and their slaves, all while not being there himself. And Garp himself never telling Sengoku the whole story of that day since he doesn't like to talk about it. The slaves also needed protection from the numerous pirates that had gathered on the island. Big Mom literally attacked two slave children over DFs lmao. Rocks and Roger's crews weren't the only crews gathered at God Valley, countless other pirate ships outside of theirs went to God Valley as well. When top tiers are fighting left and right... who gone protect the slaves?? you know the people chained up and defenseless??
But nah maybe Garp should've just let em get killed in the crossfire, would've been the better choice, I suppose.

Also, "harem war" might've been on of the stupidest things Oda ever wrote. And I'm not talking the usual comedy thing. It's just plain stupid.

Oden is a dogshit character and Kuma's flashback was just constant misery porn with no breaks, it was like a parody of crybaby backstories especially with hilarious scenes like this.
So far Xebec's tale has been way more entertaining to follow than the trash that came before.

Of course it was going to be filled with misery, Kuma's flashback was all about Kuma and Bonney as characters and their past.
There wasn't anything wrong with it, his flashback is still one of the best, the complaint of it being just misery porn is just fucking stupid.
Saying Kuma's flashback was trash and comparing it alongside Oden's flashback, just shows how ignorant you are.
If you weren't a fan of it, that's fine but actually saying it was trash, is just dumb imo.
And of course the Elbaf flashback is going to better, the flashback is focusing a lot on the Rocks Pirates as well as giving us more lore to the story.
If Imu is possessing him, he should (as Gunko) start talking as Imu (I mean, it would be Imu then), having his haki, his powers, etc. And more so, HKs and Saturn at least should fight for him against the pirates.
And in all this Garp and some other shouldn't understand anything or take sides.
