It's great that Oda choose a 21 yo Rookie Kaido for a hypetool against Roger coz that's probably the biggest W Roger would get in GV after jumping Xebec with Garp + Garling.
It's a pain that Dragon is the only young marine showing up at GV.
No Akainu or Kizaru who's around their age or maybe they aren't even marine at this point?

This flashback centers around Harald. Yet he’s absent this chapter. Meaning Oda is going to go somewhere with this that directly ties into the main plot.
Imu and/or Harald were likely in GV and thats why Oda is showing us this stuff.
Id imagine if nothing else we see the GV matchups and their conclusions.

I won't disrespect Kaido powerwise. He went crazy in Wano. But Prime WinWin was simply built different

Then roger come later without any DF and conqueror the grand line .
If anything when you look at his top tier list only 1 person has DF no wonder the man say haki rules all lol.
Tells me that Garp and Dragon doesn't have a close relationship.
Or Garp was a horrible irresponsive dad during his prime, doesn't really care what his son is doing, whether he's in danger or not....
For some reason Oda's making them apart like there's a barrier between them.
Won't be surprised if we don't see any interaction throughout GV when both are at the same island really close to each other.
Young Garp has kinda cold personality, eg. during the first interaction with Kuzan in the fb. He was hard to connect during this age.....
Maybe he change for the better when he gets older.

Yeah Imu most likely Domi Reversi’d Rocks and set him against Roger.
There needs to be a tie-in to the Harald flashback otherwise this entire GV flashback, while overall important, is largely meaningless to the current arc.
The Rocks and Roger Pirates were both trying to save Shakky. They would basically have had to team up against Garp and the CDs.
If the HKs started to lose, Imu would inevitably possess Gunko and enter the battle himself.
Rocks said he would meet Imu again. GV is where it happened.
At the end I’m guessing Rocks agreed to become a demon if Imu spared Teach.

The Edward Simpgate fall off is atrocious man. How did we go from being world's strongest man who could destroy the world to deviously chasing after rayleigh's side piece

What did Garp do for him other than visit once a year?
Let him spend time with pirates and then let bandits raise him. How many times did he almost die by the time he was 8?
It's hard to beat Garp at being a horrible father figure. Atleast Dragon is trying to create a better world while Garp hasn't done anything important.
