How is that different to anyone else, though?
For most character, the only thing they can do against anyone's attacks is defend against them or else they'd be crippled by direct blows. That means Roger's sword, Garp's fists, Whitebeard's Gura blows, Akainu's Magu attacks, etc. All of them basically have to be blocked (and are in many examples) in order for those fights to even happen.
So why is it just a bad look for Big Mom that an attack she threw out that didn't even have any Haki in it was fully defended against by one of the strongest characters using one of the most intense Haki coatings we've ever seen? By all logic, the same would've happened to basically anyone else's comparable attacks.

Not really. Zeus’ combinations are terrible, we know this since it was admitted by Prometheus/Napoleon. BM who’s goal is to not fight Garp, but to get fruits for her children, fired a one-off attack with huge AOE to create distance between the two so she could go back to hunting. BM’s homies don’t even get injured during this flashback, lol AND she comes out unscathed. It’s really not that serious of an interaction.
