Record of Ragnarok is honestly one of the harder manga to fuck up, just don’t make it a power point presentation.

Shiki feels a bit inconsistent here. He had been scheming from the very beginning, yet in the end he turned out to be one of the most loyal. I guess he’s just a tsundere.

It could also be the classic showcase of the strong valuing the strong. Stronger characters like Shiki, and BM would respect Xebec’s power and gravitate more towards him. It’s a consistent thing throughout the show, Oden was immediately charmed by Roger’s strength. Even Luffy shows more instantaneous interest toward stronger characters like Zoro and Loki. Stronger characters are usually more honorable as well.
