On the cover page, we got some mafia dogs stealing the precious, sweet cola right out of Franky's own stomach. Cute. And kinda disturbing. BUT WHAT DOES IT SYMBOLIZE?! Well..um...hmm...Franky's sleeping out in the middle of the woods, so...maybe it has something to do with the origin of Devil Fruits? Or...maybe it has something to do with "sharing powers"? Or maybe it's nothing, and it's just a funny scene.
Imu is REALLY bad at dodging! It's a necessary skill for high-level play!
Luffy gets another new power! He can make multiple arms to hit people with. Booming Dawn Kraken Gatling! Somewhere, Boa Hancock is suddenly feeling very excited, for some reason.
We get to see the Tohu and Bohu swords working together! Void Shield! I guess the similar names do mean that they're related, somehow? So, I guess the two Celestial Dragon Families that belong to those two swords are probably also somehow related? And Luffy's Haki-coating is no match against Imu's Maki Shield.
Scopper orders Hajrudin to get Luffy out of here, since, apparently, his wounds are still too severe for this fight. But then...Usopp gets a moment to make a big, heroic speech about how they're not running away this time, and how Luffy is his own man not just a echo of Joyboy or Nika or even Roger! It might not be the Usopp moment a lot of fans wanted, but you can't say Oda isn't giving Usopp SOMETHING this arc, between this and standing up to Imu himself.
...The whole "He should have the freedom to die honorably on his own terms" thing does make me worry a bit, though. Not so much about Luffy, even though this DOES feel like more foreshadowing that Luffy will eventually get a fakeout death, at least. But...yeah...I kind of have to wonder if Oda's really talking about HIMSELF, here? Like...he's tired of all the fans and editors being worried about his health, and trying to get him to rush the ending of the story? Like, this could be Oda saying that he wants to do his story his way, even if it means he dies before he finishes it? Maybe that's reading too much into it, but...who knows?
Luffy got hit so hard by Imu that he made a cartoony silhouette in the "floor" of the tree. But, then...he gets a idea. He uses Loki's hammer attack to propel himself right into Imu for one more big attack. And he's even able to punch right through Imu's Void Shield this time! Imu's...not looking too good. Honestly, it almost looks like Imu's about ready to pass out from this attack.
But, chances are, this is just going to set up Imu going into his FINAL FORM! Or something like that. Either a full Devil, or maybe a Dragon form, we'll see. Although, at this point, I wonder if we'll cut over to Zoro and Sanji's fights next chapter? I'm not sure what to expect for next chapter, honestly.
