Well... Yuruichi design wouldn't hurt. How is it that Kishimoto made a female the final villain and Kubo wrote characters like Yuruichi, Rukia and Unohana (okay, Unohana was unimpressive till later), and Oda can't?
Kishimoto's decision to make Kaguya the final villain was horrible, but I get the bleach part. Kaguya can't be used as a good example as she literally got distracted by the reverse harem no jutsu.

Same. He was my least favorite of the Scabbards prior, but that was by the design. Trying to make him as unremarkable, no one would look to him as a suspect.
Sure, it's a preference in taste. But don't act like it's a crime to stretch deform anatomy. realistic things arnt always the most interesting things to look at. and he's gotten a lot better since then.
The exaggerated hourglass figure for women isn't weirder than the guys huge neck. Hourglass figure is seen as sexy so Oda exaggerate it for hot women like he does with torso and neck for dudes that are supposed to look strong.
My man went from ripped as hell in punk hazard to skinny dude with a huge neck in dressrosa and then both him and law got jacked up off steriods in zou.

I think it was more about not allowing readers to get attached to Kanjuro too much so that when the reveal comes, the readers would be shocked by wouldn't rebel. Unlike Kin'emon, to whom we are all attached, so many would rebel if Kin'emon had been revealed as the traitor.
