One Piece Episode 1127 - Luffy vs. Kizaru! A Fierce Kaleidoscopic Battle

For the gear 5th fight, I think I slightly preferred Ota's scene than Vincent.

Vincent's scene is wonderful, its technically incredible, but I do think that sometimes thing do happen a bit too quickly to properly follow. For me, the best instance of that is Luffy's cheek getting cut. If you go through frame by frame, its a brilliant cut following Kizaru's light slashing Luffy's face, but it all passes so quickly in motion its hard to tell whats going on.


I think that Ota's scene, which is a bit slower, and directly follows Vincent's, while less flash, is a lot more readable because it does take things slower.

Ota's scene is pretty much Luffy getting giant to him realising Kizaru has slipped past him.

it's still the best scene for any Admiral ever. Aura unmatched.

Eh, it's so extended due to crappy pacing that it makes Sakazuki feel like he's purely aura-farming, which should be the last thing someone with his pragmatic combat mindset ought to do, especially given that he personally prioritised Luffy's demise over even Whitebeard's imo, yet he's just standing like a dummy.

Going to glaze Tu Yong Ce here.

Since he joined the One Piece team after DB Super, Tu Yong Ce has had one of the most astronomic rises of any animators in the franchise.

Starting out as a key animator, his style and skills have rapidly developed and changed from when he started working on WCI.

His first notable scene was in 841, which was Big Mom tossing Prometheus at Reiju, he was given more and more scenes in both number and importance.

He handled the battle of speed between Luffy vs Katakuri in episode 851, but his first major episode was really 857 in my opinion, where he animated several hundred cuts, animating pretty much the entirety of the action in Luffy gear 4th vs Katakuri in that episode.

His work quality wasn't as notable as it is today, but it was always decent, provide a decent quality of action for the entire episode.

They then were literally nearly everywhere in Wano, providing animation highlights to a disgusting degree. Easily the most consistent animator on the series in both quality and quantity.

This would continue as he worked on more and more, eventually becoming an animation supervisor, and then one of the shows chief animation directors, which is effectively the highest credit you can get on a long running series, his focus being particularly on supervising and animating on the big highlight episodes of the series.

As he has worked alongside top talents, Tu's style has dramatically evolved, with him currently channeling the art style of Akihiro Ota, as evidenced in his recent scenes, which include Shanks defeating Kidd, and his work on this latest episode, where he was animation director, but also animated Zoro vs Lucci.

Its genuinely been incredible to follow an animator as they've grown and improved in their craft.
