That scene was peak. It wasn't the same scene as Zoro's king of cringe which followed it. Let's not confuse aura and generic light vomit on the screen with impact frames.
Chansard loves impact frames. Sometimes he goes over the top but his scenes are never mindless scribbles, he has a great attention to detail and tries to honour a character's style.
This segment looks like Ishuzuka to me.
Notice the weird red filter I was talking about, it's the same shit in Zoro vs Lucci. And the artstyle too. @zenox mentioned he has a predecessor who took over his style, so it could be him. But it definitely does not resemble Chansard's stuff.
Also in Ishuzuka's defense. The ending of King vs Zoro was epic. There's a time and place for that style and Zoro vs Lucci was not it. Zoro vs Lucci is so lazy, they are legit flying like dbz characters, looping around in the air.

chansard animated this and practically set a new level in animation but the part where he cuts king's dragon and everything goes white with a nuke didnt sit right with me

imo he is a great animator ( almost on par with ishizuka ) but he should tone down with the auras

this is in many fighting scenes , just search good animation or something and u will always see characters fighting each other with light beams,

its the standard these days .

It makes sense in all those contexts, it makes no sense for Zoro to be flying like goku lmao. I've watched most of those fights and never thought it was out of place. Even Zoro vs King wasn't that bad. This recent episode was atrocious, like I get he has those vegaboots but there's a limit to lazy template like animation. Zoro was literally flying dbz style. It was like that one Kaidou vs Base Luffy scene on the roof. Complete nonsense.
There's difference between using the vegaboots and straight up being Goku. We had scenes of Zoro flying using the boots against Lucci and there were no issues. It's the stupid lines Ishizuka or his clones love to do.

I love using the HxH versions to illustrate how they "save" animation with the scenes.
ESPECIALLY take a look into the parts where Killua tries to escape from Phinks. How in the old anime, it was more fluid, with no "static shoots" of Killua thinking to himself after every single move in order to stall the episode's duration.
One Piece always suffered from this kind of thing, but man did it get significantly worse as time went on.
Are we forgetting that during the Chimera Ant arc that the production values for 2011 actually increased dramatically and a lot of the prior complaints about the earlier arcs sort of vanished?
This is the equivalent of that happening here.
The animation for this episode was completely balls to the wall insane.
They spared literally no expense making everything as good as possible.
This episode is easily up there for one of the best animated in the series, and is better animated than several of the recent films.
