Introduction
- If you've ever watched an Iceberg video on Youtube, you should already know how it works. I simply listed some of the theories, curiosities and mysteries about One Piece manga/anime/Eichiro Oda, that maybe you don't know or don't remember, now enjoy.
(don't worry kid, there's Zoro and Sanji here too)
Layer 1
-Elbaf: One of the most popular theories of One Piece is that the next arc after Wano will be Elbaf, and while there is no clear confirmation that this will be the next OP arc, many people believe so because of the connections Elbaf has with: the Big Plot by Mom, Shanks and Ussop. In addition, the giants are one of the only races that have not yet been explored in the series.
-Zoro´s eye: In TS Zoro returns with a scar in his eye. And while some people believe that this scar is just part of his badass look, others theorize that Mihawk made this scar on Zoro as a way of teaching, or that Zoro made a promise to Mihawk and injured himself, or even that Zoro hides something secret power in your eye.
-Green Bull´s DF: Green Bull is the only Admiral yet to be revealed, but in his intro he says he hasn't eaten in 3 years. Therefore, theories began to emerge that he may have a mythical Zoan, or the Earth Logia that allows him to do such a feat. But so far, we don't know what his fruit is.
-Dragon´s Logia: Many people theorize that Dragon has a DF, the most famous of which is the Wind/Storm Logia. Every time Dragon appears this is windy, in his intro, Dragon appears in a storm, and his ship's name is "Wind Granma".
Con D Oriano- This is not a theory, this is a meme in the One Piece fandom. However, many people theorize that Con D Oriano is the strongest character in OP, with the power of 197 DFs, supreme Haki, and capable of defeating all Yonkous, Admirals, Supernovas and Warlords together, but this is just a fandom meme.........or not.
-Dragon was from Marine: One theory says that Dragon is a Rear Admiral or even a Marine Admiral. Dragon is Garp's son and probably Garp tried to become a Marine, however Dragon saw that Marine is rotten and decided to become a revolutionary. He is the most wanted man in the world because he had a high rank in the Marine, meaning he knows a lot.
- Kizaru is Vegapunk: The theory says that Kizaru is Vegapunk. The first image of Kizaru's childhood, shows him in a possible country with snow, and the image also shows him reading books even without light. In addition to that Sentomaru, who is Vegapunk's bodyguard, always appears near Kizaru and calls him uncle. and the point that would explain Kizaru's intelligence to be compared to Vegapunk's would be that he can read books at bizarrely high speeds so he acquired knowledge very quickly.
Layer 2
THE ELASTIC LOVER: The character Boa Hancock is in love with Luffy. Something that is very curious is that its name is inspired by Thomas Hancock who was the inventor of the rubber band and Luffy has the power to stretch parts of his body.
ADDICTED TO LOllipop: on Cartoon Network , One Piece had several bizarre censorships: the absurdity of all was in the character Sanji who in the original is always smoking and in the censored version his cigarettes were replaced by lollipops!!!
THE STRANGE WORLD OF BROOK: Oda has also declared himself to be a big fan of director Tim Burton and paid tribute to him with the character Brook who has a similar look to Jack Skellington, a character in the movie The Strange World of Jack.
RETAILER'S SON: Oda was an assistant to mangaka Nobuhiro Watsuki, creator of the famous manga Rurouni Kenshin (known by many as Samurai X), it is said that this experience was the inspiration for Oda to create the character Zoro in One Piece
Layer 3
-Oda didn't know how to finish Drum: Drum Island is based on a place called Drum Rock, which Oda thought was in Canada but didn't remember very well. The author revealed in 2005 that he started the arc with no idea what his character design would look like or how it would end. Unknowingly, he started drawing the arch and what turned into that big cloud of cherry blossom petals came from a book he read about pollution. The book told how snow can change color, acquiring a yellowish tone when exposed to the industrial pole. But as Oda didn't want to talk about pollution (lol), but hope, to finish the arc lighter, he decided to adopt the color pink
- Shanks shouldn't lose his arm: In 2010, Oda revealed that he didn't plan for Shanks to lose his left arm. He made this drastic decision when his editor commented that the story wasn't interesting enough. This explains the great confusion that this moment would generate in the future.
- Supernovas were created in a week: The Supernovas were an addition to the Sabaody arc, after an editor commented that Sabaody was a bit "boring". According to Oda, the Supernovas were created, a chapter before their introductions.
- Senior Pink's Past Almost Didn't Exist: According to Suguru Sugita, editor of Oda, the mangaka didn't know whether or not to put the flashback there, but the editor convinced him to be moved by the story. This is a flashback that depending on a yes or a no, could have been completely discarded.
-Ace wasn't supposed to be Roger's son: Oda only thought about this possibility after the character was introduced in the story. the Author said that he asked the opinion of his editor for this possible relationship, the editor supported the idea, and yes, Gol D Ace came up. A change from the original idea that was very successful.
Law wasn't meant to be important: Oda has already admitted that he did not expect the captain of the Heart Pirates to become such an important figure, both for the Straw Hats' history and for the world, becoming the most popular Supernova of all outside Luffy and Zoro, incusive Law was in 5th place in the popularity ranking. Oda imagined that Kid would be more important (Ironic).
Layer 4
- Conflicts with the Naruto manga at the beginning:One such character was the cook known as “Black Leg" Sanji well, that is what he was eventually named. When he was created, Sanji was actually called Naruto. However, Oda’s rival, Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto, had just developed his series of the same name and published it in 1997. Having heard of its development, Oda decided to change his character’s name to avoid confusion.
Even with this alleged “rivalry”, the two artists greatly respected one another. When Kishimoto published his final Naruto volume, he included the Straw Hat Pirates’ symbol on Naruto’s headband on Hokage Rock in the "Chapter 700" artwork. As a response and final goodbye, Oda added tons of Naruto references in the cover of "Chapter 766" of One piece. These references included the symbols for Konohagakure, the Uzumaki clan. Luffy was eating ramen - Naruto’s favorite - with a (very heavily hinted) Naruto figure. His final message to his rival: “Both my friend and rival, thank you for 15 years of heartfelt serialization!! Kishimoto-san, Otsukaresama!!”
-The Spoilers of 2009: this is about a leaked spoiler theoretically dated from 2009. It rises from the ashes sometimes and always bombs in the same way on various forums and platforms . In it, several specific factors about One Piece's story were stated ,such as fights between certain characters, deaths, family ties, and secret powers. The most scandalous part of this spoiler is that it is said to have been leaked by an editor of Oda, who was once fired.But is this spoiler real?No. It is nothing but an aggregation of theories, if that's what we can call it. These "spoilers" said that:
-Luffy, who became stronger after Ace's death, will master Haki as well as the D.'s secret, and will be desperate to defeat Blackbeard, who, at the end of the story, will be the strongest for having absorbed all the external power of the Devil Fruit at sea;
- Zoro will have a new sword that will be made from Kairoseki, so he can cut Haki users and Logia-type Devil Fruit users;
- Sanji will become a man again at the hands of Emporio Ivankov, who will teach him new skills in the Kingdom of Kamabakka;
- Usopp will obtain a secret Logia-type Devil Fruit and will have, as his new weapon, a bow and arrow;
-Oda told the end of One Piece to a fan: Oda has never told anyone his planned ending for One Piece, except for one person, that Child was a kid who had cancer, and was about to die soon, his family did a make a wish and that wish was for Oda to tell the kid the ending for One Piece because he has a big fan. Too bad this story is FAKE.
