The thing is, this adaptation from the info we've gotten so far has been 99% faithful to the manga. But that's the thing. One Piece manga doesn't translate well to reality. If they started changing things to make it more realistic, they would be bombarded with criticisms of not being faithful to the manga. It's a lose-lose case either way.

The solution for this is simple: don't make Live Action.

Everyone here will have a time of adaptation to the material at first and it's normal, any adaptations from a visual support if not from book or 100% accurate like the next mario movie is bound to subvert people's expectations at first because of the visuals.

The real questions are :

- Is the art direction coherent ? (are the costumes, the sets, the makeups, the visuals blending in well together ?)
- Is the core of the story respected ? (Theme, bits, huge plotpoints, characterization, setups-payoffs etc. ?)
- Is the material able to reappropriate the source material in a creative way ? (Did it extend on things we could need?)
- Are the actors playing good enough to make us feels the magic of the characters ?
- Did the crew manage to get around possible limitations in a creative way ?

The rest is just bonus.

This poster gives us two answers:

1. There is a whim to stay close as much as possible to the source material (the design of the costumes)
2. There will be creative choices involved. (The shoes of Luffy/The designof the Ship)

We don't have anything more, so let's wait. And don't worry, if thing are well done, you may have a bad feeling at the beginning of the serie, but will disappear soon enough.

We can't do anything about it since it's already being made. Maybe something like Disney could make it work (on visual aspect) but they would fuck up the story and writing. Let's just hope it will be above average.
Dude, let me tell you something, the only reason these production companies make Manga/anime Live Actions is one and only money, because these producers are seeing that the manga/anime industry is big as fuck. there is no motivation from these people to adapt One Piece to Live Action to introduce One Piece to new audiences, or that they are fans and want to respect the Manga, what they want is to suck as much money out of muggle One Piece fans, and they will do everything to make it happen, they will make super stylish trailers, they will pay Youtubers to speak well and etc. But if this series doesn't deliver on the expectations of the producers, this shit is going to be canceled in less than a month.
