I have a little experience with Bastard games with Ol' Ekkos cop game
I found the best thing to do is to implement the "keep moving forward" method
Basically don't overthink things and keep truckin on with what you have
And in cases where things change is the time where you actually pivot

My team was able to get close to victory with this method and only lost out to an R/P/S game
