Even if Shanks dies, he will come back as a Haki Ghost Star Wars style, Shanks uses the "Red Force" and he will just haunt BB for the rest of his short remaining life or even kick his ass as a ghost anyway.
Nah Shanks going to lose to Blackbeard but not die. He’ll kill himself during a pivotal moment of Blackbeard vs Luffy so Luffy can win and Oda can give Shanks another sacrifice for the new generation moment.
Could be interesting though, I do suspect Shanks genuinely has "red flags" ironically, whether its to Blackbeard or even Garling potentially.
