Yeah, Oda is a genius. I used to think flaws made a series worse, but, a lot of One Piece would be lost without its flaws.
It's easy to act like Mangaka should get better as they age, but, due to Manga schedules, it's usually the opposite.
I just wish Oda would let his assistants do more work.

Joyboy and Lily maybe made their own plan knowing that they couldnt win but could stall the fight for hundreds of years.
I feel it’s possible that Joyboy sacrificed himself so that Lily could steal the original power source of Uranus after causing the poneglyphs to scatter. That’s why Joyboy had his apology to the mermaid princess written was because he knew he would lose this fight.
The humor may be an ironic humor like
Joyboy knew he was dying like Roger so he sacrificed himself to ensure his dream lived on.

Oda already did that by letting Law land a hit on Teach and briefly clash with him.
Which is fine tbh. Landing hits on Teach is easy and clashing with him was expected of someone of Law’s caliber.
But Teach shouldn’t be walking away in bandages.
