Some have real motivation to learn the new language and to build a successful and fulfilling life.
Some don't give a shit and either live in a parallel society, low key rejecting their host country or become outright criminals. There's people who have been living here for years and still use Google translate for everyday conversations.
Like, I went to a bike shop once and there was another customer who legit didn't speak a single word, instead he typed everything in Google translate on his phone and then SHOWED THE PHONE to the bike shop lady. He didn't even attempt to pronounce the Google translate result
After the guy had left, she made a remark that he has been coming to this bike shop for the past 4 or 5 years, bringing a new bike every time💀
They considered turning him away the next time because they had no way of knowing where he got all these bikes from
