People are forgetting the name of the gods doesn't co-relate with their meaning in literal sense. Luffy doesn't have the power of sun. Sun God represents freedom and dawn.

Like that sea in one piece negates DF powers. Just like yami negates DF powers. Sea god being Davy jones makes more sense in that way.
