Break Week Opinion: Zoro should’ve fought a Samurai in a proper swords battle

The Queen fight vs Sanji is simply a better written fight. Even the Jack fight apart from the off screening. Why?

Inurashi had a legitimate backstory with Jack.

Queen has a legitimate backstory with Sanji and Judge/MADS.

Zoro has nothing to do with King or his character apart them being the right hands of their crew. Now Oda is trying to force feed us King’s backstory to “help” beat him. It’s contrived af.

What do we get instead? Zoro being exposed for not being able to fly…Again. How many times must we go down this route?

Now his opponent doesn’t even consider himself a “swordsman”. If Orochi was going to be weak, and Denjiro going to betray him, then use someone else, like Orochi’s son.

Imagine having an evil badass Samurai, part of the Orochi clan, and his son, being >= YC1 level or whatever fighting in a PROPER swords duel with Zoro, and not just “What is the secret Lunarian ability?”.

Zoro should’ve fought the “Strongest Swordsman/Samurai of Wano”. It’s such a missed opportunity.

Honestly King is just being used to faciliate Zoro leveling up/unlocking a new ability. I see no other reason other than giving him that 1v1 that most other Straw Hats got. The headcanon in 2017 was that he was going to face off against Orochi but that mans turned out to be a blob, then Kyoshiro stepped up to play and that dude turned out to be a friend so with that there ain’t any Samurai left that would hold a candle to Zoro. It would’ve been dope if Zoro faced off against a competent Samurai but King ain’t that bad of a matchup.

I agree with you about him fighting a Samurai, but King is showing a decent fighting style, probably the best among the Beast Pirates.

Sanji x Queen suffer the opposite problem. They have a"backstory" but the choreography is boring, I love Queen gags but he's basically a massive punch bag for Sanji. Base Who's Who or a CP0 dude could be a lot better.

Yeah, but this is Wano, the land of his ancestors. This was the time for the "backstory". With all the hype about Samurais, to not get a Zoro vs. Strongest Samurai battle is such a massive waste.

Yeah, because we haven't seen the climax. It's just the buildup. Sanji having to turn into a "machine" to beat Queen.
