Zoro would be perfect as MC. Manga about Bounty Hunter. He wouldn't have a crew though I believe so. Maybe he would have some random companies like those followers of him during Baratie and Arlong Park arc.
Sanji seek for All Blue would be cool too.
Robin seek for Rio Poneglyph would be awesome.
Usopp seek to be a brave warrior of the sea would be cool too.
If Yamato was the protagonist and started in a barrel, her fruit would have to be changed, in my opinion it is too OP for the protagonist. Imo regular fox Zoan or western dragon Zoan (without OP abilities) would suit her.

I just want to see thecoriginal plot where Usopp was firstmate. That's the only way I could have seen one piece as a whole being a better story.
I mean we already have Luffy being different from other shounen protagonist where he's actually strong and confident. Not only that but Sanji and Zoro are the same way. But imagine if Usopp was actually strong, he'd probably have some of the same characteristics especially because I suspect he was the original blackbeard. Oda could have played on him being underhanded and dark and not like the rest of the strawhats. According to my theory ace would have met Luffy in alabasta and warned him about usopp. Later in water 7 Luffy and usopp would get into a similar fight but Usopp would have left the crew for good. The same way Blackbeard left the whotebeard pirates. Essentially he would have become blackbeard and Luffy's final pirate adversary would have been his own first mate.
That would explain Usopp original design looking alot like blackbeard and why Usopp vs Luffy happened in the original story. It even explains Sogeking being Usopp alter ego. it's probably why blackbeard carries guns even though he has no use for them. Then imagine Usopp being defeated in the final arc showing up at mariejoa and shooting down the flag to help his old captain the same way he did in enis Lobby. Tell me that wouldn't be more interesting.

You cooked with Usopp/Teach similarity. Plus Usopp is underdog which is one of the main themes of one piece. His father is deadbeat, but his crew would be his real family, which is also one of the main themes of OP. Thematically and narratively he is better protag than Luffy, imo

It would be sad because usopp despite being fumbled as a character has given us some of the best scenes in one piece thst we would miss out on but as a character we've delved into his mind more than any other character. His incessant need to be brave warrior of the sea and follow his dreams coupled with the fact that he has limitations is fascinating.
Even his ability to keep up with the monster trio in not strenght fests is obvious. We have movie scenes where usopp mentioned he never got sick before. The scene in strong world where he's the last one conscious against shiki. Even him being the one that made the strawhat flag would make him the perfect adversary for luffy. Oda saying Usopp is like a big brother to luffy. I would have been ok with Usopp leaving the crew and Zoro being the new firstmate.
I mean usopp is technically the firstmate anyways. Hear me out.. he said he wanted to be captain and luffy declined and usopp Sai if you ever fail your duties as captain I will step in and take over.. in enis Lobby Luffy laid defeated in front of Rob Lucchi. What did Usopp do he took off his mask and threatened to step in if luffy didn't get up. Then proceeded to give one of the best speeches in One Piece history. The original plot is there for any real Usopp fan to see.
