Compared to What some of you watched/read PRE-Timeskip, How much has the series declined in the Post Timeskip? From the Moment Luffy put that hat on to Now......

So much that pretimeskip and posttimeskip look like they were created from two different authors. As if pretimeskip was created by Oda, but posttimeskip by some other author who is continuing but is doing a very very bad job because he is not Oda.

It became complete garbage after timeskip. I dont understand how Oda managed to do it.

imo its an arc by arc basis.

I felt like FI was really repetitive and was drawn out far more than it really needed to be. The villains were fodder and the entire conflict of the arc could have been resolved in 10 chapters. I guess Oda needs to make Luffy the hero of FI, but it would have truly been much better if the main villain was someone from the BMP instead of Arlong 2.0.

Overall, FI shouldn't have been much longer than Zou. Same with Punk hazard. FI and PH both had fodder villains yet somehow took up 100 chapters of screen time. 100 chapters is a lot, have you seen what other mangaka can do in 100 chapters?

The reason this is the problem is because the NW has these massive overarching villains, Kaido and big mom. Oda failed to develop them properly because he was spending too much time with fodder like Hody and Caesar. Couldn't Luffy have just gone G4 and 1 shot them? If so, why not just do that? Why unnecessarily create a conflict that does not need to exist?

Mixed bag

The one thing the pre timeskip had that the post timeskip just doesn’t have is consistency imo

I thought every arc pre timeskip was enjoyable at worst and phenomenal at best. I can’t say the same for every arc after the timeskip

FI was meh, Punk Hazard was decent (carried by Law), Dressrosa was good, Zou was great (short and sweet), WCI was good, and Wano sucks

Wano alone is ruining my post timeskip experience ngl. It’s just too long and the writing is shambolic

Dressrosa was actually an arc I really enjoyed. I think it is by far the strongest arc out of the post skip. I will say, however, the colosseum fighters were pretty excessive and their presence just wasn't needed to the extent that it was.

Oda could have formed the grand fleet in a much more organic way, with them just being returning characters who actually had important roles to play in other arcs, instead of being characters shoehorned into wano for no reason other than to be the grand fleet.

This bloated the arc, making it take 100 chapters.

One Piece has shifted gears... it's a different part of the overall story. JoJo completely changes every few years, DB was completely different after the first few years etc. If you think it depended on Oda doing the same shit continuously then yeah, you're probably disappointed. But that was never my expectation.

Honestly my biggest gripe is the overly serious tone that seems to have started with the post-marineford arc onwards. Early OP just had this perfect blend of silly/goofy moments with that sense of adventure that got lost during the timeskip, while still being able to dish our powerful and emotional scenes. I'm sorta hoping that with G5, some of that lost comedic side will return. I obviously still love OP, but pre-TS just has that little something extra post-TS does not.

I think battle wise it improved during the recent arcs but story wise I felt a downgrade in the latest dozens chapters because of too much questionable stuff being introduced but One Piece is still standing as a masterpiece nowadays

OP was totally fine before Wano. PH was great. Dressrosa was mostly fine, just too long and some characters received too much screen time. Zou was amazing. WCI was great until the bomb went off and even after that we had Katakuri greatness. Reverie was great but then Wano happened and it's been garbage throughout.

Wano is the decline

Clearly wasn't...... We literally didn't have any fights for the strawhats before Wano. And the crew was split all the time. Strawhats feel like characters more now then they did before.

Think PH and FI werent that good when i was reading weekly, but today i enjoy them much more, expecially because of lore.

Dressrosa had a problem with too many characters, but was a good arc, and a mini version of what the NW would be.

Zou and WCI were good arcs.

Think the main problem is Wano arc, the Arc had good parts, but think most of us can agree that most isnt that good, and Oda have lost to many time with the Wano characters that most of the readers dont care about, the greatest prove of that is the fact that the chapters we enjoy the most aré the mid-arc ones.

Some people care more about characters outside of the crew so they don’t really mind

I’m glad the Strawhats are getting screentime in Wano but even their moments in this arc are lacking

What has Usopp done during the whole arc? Pretty much nothing. What notable moments did Brook have before the raid? None. Most of the Strawhats did little to nothing before the raid and even during the raid their moments have been lacking

Usopp still hasn’t done anything, Brook didn’t get his own fight, Chopper cured the plague and then faded back into irrelevancy, Nami was handed her win on a diamond encrusted platter (Ulti was nerfed to shit), you see my point

I honestly don’t see how Wano compares to any arc that came before it during the timeskip

The side characters alone drag the arc down a ton. Nobody cares about the scabbards (only 2 of them cracked top 50 in the polls), Oden is meh, Tama is the definition of a plot convenient character, etc
