Manga Discussion overall thoughts on Toriko as a Series?

What are your thoughts on Toriko as a series overall? I personally thought it was a bit of a Sleeper that suffered from a very weird Anime that ended just as the Series was hitting it's peak.

IMO, Toriko is a very underrated series. The anime did not do it any favors, as the little bit I saw was a horrible adaptation of the source material. I guess running in WSJ alongside the big 3 didn't help it much either, since those series struck gold with their anime adaptations. Toriko had a good plot, a great world, a good power system and abilities, and some really well-written characters. I would recommend the manga, but stay far away from the anime.

Toriko is a great manga. It had so many awesome characters and hype moments. The Jirou vs Nitro is one of the greatest battles in manga history. Its a shame the ending was rushed - but I still enjoyed reading it.

Never got around to it, only thing ive seen of Toriko is that random ass 3 way cross over it had with one piece and DBZ

Pretty underrated series that is very comparable to One Piece, with world building and end game villians. It also has amazing battles and great characters to boot.

It's In my top 10 favourite manga. Just a shame it was rushed and that we didn't get a space arc.

It has an epic Part I with high highs rivaling that of One Piece from Skypiea to Marineford. It's too bad the Mangaka committed underaged prositution before Toriko's serialization, but at least that's not as bad as what Nobuhiro Watsuki did.
