Speculations People in One Piece are Retarded Because There are No Schools

#25
Several people providing evidence that education systems do indeed exist in the OP world:

AlmightyGunther43: nuh uh 😝
Those education systems are crazy tho it's a Flevance school and a Wano school and both those places got either burned or isolated.

The closest thing to a real school is maybe idk Zoros dojo where he almost killed people

Also both those places are primary grade places. The question of a higher education institution remains at stake here. Where the FK are the college graduates?

There are schools but I'd assume most characters never go cause they all had rough upbringings

For the Pirates - most of them were poor and set sail pretty young so I doubt there was any time

Revolutionary's - They receive an education once they join

Marines - Even among the Admirals it's implied that Sakazuki and Kuzan had rough upbringings with Borsalino being the only exception

I'd say most One Piece characters are street smart and learn as they go

That's fair

Most pirates we know never went to school

Like.. what is the college graduate rate for a Son of the Sea (Whitebeard's crew)

Most of them were already some kind of pirate and they were young.

First of all, not retarded, ignorant.

Sabo was forced to study in home schooling.
Since both Luffy and Ace can read and calculate to some degree, despite not going to school, I believe Sabo had taught them a bit.

Colleges and universities? There was one in Ohara. Obviously the government prefers people to be ignorant, that's why you can't find many of those in One Piece. Yet there are scientists and Doctors. They had to learn it somewhere, and get their title.

What are they even taught in these supposed schools?

Almost nothing concerning technology. Vegapunk sucks they don't even really have airplanes.

Dr. Kureha was called a witch because of her age and the money she charged. Her island was the island of doctors before Wapol was king there. She's 141 years old, she learned her profession in the former century, long before the age of piracy. I can't tell you if it was school per se or she was simply an acolyte or apprentice, but even in real life, medical student need to go through internship period to gain experience before they are considered doctors.

As I tried to explain earlier, the World Government itself doesn't encourage higher education. Ignorant people are easier to rule and manipulate. It doesn't want people to explore and investigate things not only because of the void century, but also because educated people are harder to rule and subdue.

The age in which One Piece takes place is really like the middle ages, where prior centuries have been more educated and knowledgeable than "now".

mihar/mihal was a teacher, guanhao was a spy school, i could be wrong but i think the revos had schools (???), kureha turned the drum castle into a medical academy, just because we dont see schools in any given settlement doesnt mean they exist there, there are dojos so why not schools, law attended school, i dont remember this and it might not have been in a formal setting but according to google orihime was teaching kids about the surface world

you would have to be as brainwashed by globohomo as the people of wano were by orochi to believe that involuntary governtment schooling is indispensable. secondly, you can't teach "retards". giving weevil the best education imaginable wouldn't make a big difference.
