Luffy vs Croc -> The ending of it aged greatly after we learned more about him where he refused to accept someone would keep getting up after losing like that (really connects to crocs backstory where it says he lost faith in his dreams after being beaten by primebeard)
Luffy vs Arlong -> Honestly this fight was great. The only reason it’s not number 1 is because how huge Crocodiles fight was to Luffys dream. But this fight had so much charm to it, Luffy understanding the meaning of the map room so quickly, Luffy taking Arlongs teeth, the destruction of Arlong Park, and then it aged well with Sabaody Park being the inspiration kinda making you look at the Arlong Pirates another way and not just as monsters.
Zoro vs King -> The fight with the best choreography on this list. However, this fight was Missing something that the two fights above it had; character meaning. King should’ve been built up more. His entire being was slapdashed at the end and done quite poorly. When this is the main fight for Zoro in the Samurai arc, not having it be about Zoro and instead making it Luffys right hand vs Kaidos right hand is a big gripe I have about it. Fight was cool, but it didn’t focus on Zoro enough and focused too much on luffy and Kaido.
Zoro vs Ryuma -> Fight was short but I love this fight and wish it was a bit longer. It connected to Zoros dream so well and it really showcased Zoro as a swordsman. However I dropped it down because the hype it created by connecting Zoro and Ryuma just made how much Oda fumbled the bag in wano that much more painful which is why it’s down here. A fight that had the potential to age like wine, instead just got my hopes up and led to disappointment.
Zoro vs Kaku -> This is Zoros goofiest fight; Kaku as a character was funny and I think a fight where Zoro fought someone with such a unique sword style is awesome. And on first reading Zoros opponent being as funny as Kaku was was funny, but rereading this fight it really just kinda sticks out. Kakus inability to control his powers and his weird attacks kills tension half way through the fight just to build it again which is… interesting for a Zoro fight. All in all, not bad, and Asura was amazing, but I feel like Kaku just didn’t feel right for a Zoro opponent.
Luffy vs Kaido - I didn’t like it. I think as an ending fight for such a long saga it was a huge let down. I love Gear 5s silliness; however, Kaido as a villain just felt meh? Wano just felt like a training arc with this fight as if oda said I forgot luffy needed to win this fight with getting 3 power ups in the span of one arc, two in the same freaking fight. Then there’s Kaido who’s one of my least favorite characters cause outside of strength he lacked substance. It just all in all, is one of my least favorite fights in the series. I think the only fight I dislike more than it is chopper vs Gedatsu
