Marco doesnt care that much about the outcome of the battle. He participated only bc he was oden's and Izo friend. He doesnt have any actual benefit from kaido's defeat here.
As rayan mentioned, this is the next generation's fight and marco knows that very well. His role is to support the alliance not fight the emperors themselves.

Dont know if he believes Zoro is stronger than him NOW, but at the very least he believes Zoro will surpass him.(even though Zoro is already stronger than him by a lot)

This is a fair point. Im basing it off Marco not wanting to face Kaido and making sure Zoro does, betting on the New Generation.
That is a fair argument to make if he is stronger or if he also believes he will surpass him

I don't think Marco brought Zoro to the rooftop while he stopped to guard the door and check King and Queen. Imo Marco, a bit like other characters, is entrusting the future to the new generation while he tries to not turn the battle for the SN5 from hell to suicide helping below and stopping King and Queen.
Marco can hold his actually own against admirals and emperors by himself just stop going a little to far with the zoro wank
