the problem with being new to manga is adjusting to art styles... you need to adjust that as well..

i personally when i started to have the ideal experience with OP i started with the anime and caught up and now am reading the manga.

i missed some details and iwasnt expecting a seven layer story in 1 arc. Hunter x hunter showed me manga can be more mature than almost any form of media

One piece is no different at times so its better not to read both at the same time i'd recommend one at a time or you'll be shitting your pants again in no time
