It seems like so much critique of socialism are just bad faith arguments. Like yeah, the USSR was a socialist country, but you cannot claim that they or any other socialist country is somehow representative of any and all possible iterations of socialism.
Im not saying “that wasn’t real socialism”, just that pointing to things like the Ukraine famine and pretending like this is somehow an inherent facet of socialism isn’t a real argument.
Ultimately all socialist countries had flaws and future socialist countries should work to counteract those flaws.
That being said, socialism was quite successful in most so-called failed socialist states. It turned Russia into a superpower, made China one of the strongest and wealthiest countries on earth, gave Cuba a better HDI than many of its Latin American counterparts with less inequality.
They weren’t perfect, but socialism definitively made them better than they previously were.
Also, regarding socialism and authoritarianism. It’s not that socialism is inherently authoritarian, as much as it is the only socialist countries that could survive were authoritarian. The weaker socialists got assassinated by the CIA and replaced by fascist US backed dictators. As a result, the only socialist countries that could withstand American onslaught were authoritarian.

I don't think the anti-lgbt politics really deserves to be tolerated in any way. This stuff is blatantly hateful and attacks a group of people who are already heavily marginalized in society.
When people go out there and try to claim that LGBT people are groomers for trying to push the acceptance of LGBT identities, you are actively directing violence and hatred towards LGBT people.

There is absolutely nothing that suggests that socialism can't be enacted in a democratic form. Most of the authoritarian socialist countries were always authoritarian throughout history.
Before the USSR, Russia had a king. After the USSR, Russia had Putin. Socialism isn't responsible for the authoritarianism of the USSR, authoritarianism was always popular in that area.
Same with China. Democracy has literally never existed there.
