General & Others Proof that Wano is halfway through at best
Zoro being related to Ryuma is all but confirmed, but whether his parents directly were from Wano / had a large influence on Zoros life is completely unknown at this point. For now, I would say one parent probably is a Shimotsuki but at least the parent on the Roronoa side of the family can't be hugely important since the name has never raised eyebrows anywhere in the world as far as I can recall.
Personally, I am okay with a deeper look into Zoros backstory. Considering his role in the story, I always found his backstory to be the least well explored. Some Zoro fans might be fine with what he currently have, but I never was. His backstory being further explored in the land of the samurai is perfect for me. Sanji got a deeper look into his background, why can't my swordsman have his story further examined?

Him going back to pirate hunting would be good for me, just unluckily since imo by EoS piracy will nearly die... we'll have more explorers than pirates and One Piece world will overall be more chill/with less injustices. Also, EoS Zoro won't find exciting in pursuing low caliber pirates. He could develop the same problem Mihawk has.
I think it's pretty obvious that he has a connection with Wano, but while a lot think he's Ryuma's descendant I think that is a much softer blood bond, like Kozaburo being his uncle (like brother of his father/mother or shit like that.

He already visited his grave (offscreened) and Oda focusing on it at the very end of the arc is unusual.
Not only that, his childhood is an independent issue as well: the Zou panels are definitely foreshadowing something that had given rise to Zoro's character. It definitely has to happen a bad incident that will make us dive deeper into this and outside of this arc it wouldn't make sense.

Zoro’s past is going to get revealed, but it’s not going to be a big deal. If it was, it would have been built up more during Wano, not just relegated to the SBS. He’ll go to Ryuma’s grave at the end of the arc and we’ll see the flashback. Which will just be something like Zoro hearing a story from the old Shimotsuki about Ryuma and deciding that in the future he’ll be the WSS like Ryuma was.
