What does he really mean to you Strawhat Luffy? This is an inescapable den of danger. The territory of Big Mom,Emperor of the sea! Did you really risk your lives just to take him back? Sanji is the failure of Germa. His skin is no armor. He busies himself with menial cooking. He has no royal pride. He is swayed by pointless emotions and exposes himself to danger for the sake of the weak. His mentality is soft. He is flawd as a soldier. He is a failure!!!

The more Oda tries to shoehorn the whole “chosen one” thing, the less compelling I find Luffy to be…the Garp/Dragon reveal was shocking enough before the timeskip to suffice throughout the series, but now we have all the Joyboy/Nika/Gomu Gomu being such a special DF shit on top of everything in between the former and the latter. If the author could pull back from weighing the main character down with powerups and lore in lieu of real character development, maybe Luffy wouldn’t act like a nigh-invincible jackass all the time. I know Oda loves Dragon Ball, but does the manga world really need another Goku?? 
I will just state one thing and one big fundemental difference between Luffy and other shonen protagonists....maybe people feel that there is no character development blah blah etc.....
Luffy thoughts often are hard to predict even after we are this much into the series...for example, making a pirate alliance with Law to overthrow a yonko which if it is pre TS Luffy opposes (atleast active alliance)....
In Zou, when kinemon proposes alliance, he straight away rejects it until Momo asks his help....
In WCI, he actively accepted when Jinbei said that he is staying back in WCI to protect his friends which preTS Luffy wouldn't have done that...pre TS Luffy will say that he would fight with Jinbei...
Chapter 949 is also one of the unpredictable action Luffy does throughout the series......
Every other shonen protagonist is influenced by their world around him instead Luffy in one piece actively influences the world around him....infact Luffy drives the plot unlike other protagonists....
Luffy is lot mature in post TS than he was in pre TS....WCI has so many such moments but given how certain people skipped this arc, it is preposterous from them to say that Luffy didn't mature....
Luffy is not naive as people think...intentionally or unintentionally he used the help of his nakama, allies than he used in preskip...
Sure there are some things that could have done in a better way or shit moments about Luffy but people act as if there is no character post skip is either with memory loss or cognitive bias..... mainly people with cognitive bias are people who thinks Luffy journey is because of Joyboy or nika or whatever they think it is.....

Please don't speak ill of Luffy. He is the best character in the metaverse. I will name a few from the countless awesomeness.
He has shit tons of character. 5-year-old kids will be able to tell you immediately about his greatness. And, you know what, those kids are the smartest brain out there carrying the world.
Also, please don't compare Luffy with other lame characters who struggles and pays a consequences. Those are for loser, not a Jesus like Luffy.
- He has blood from legendaries like Dragon and Garb
- He also foreshadows thousand of legendary in One Piece world
- He potentially eat Joy Boy devil fruit
- He is an underdog rookie
- He has variety of skills that he can learn/copy on a whim, including advCOA, advCOC, adv,COO, Telepathy, Animal taming.
- He can turn everybody in to his cheerleaders
- He can be carefree as much as he wants and always survive. Ace tries to mimic his character but unfortunately he isn't awesome enough
