Idk this often gets overlooked, Rayleigh had a free shot on Kizaru, and he chose to use nothing but a love tap

He chose not to use either internal destruction as there is no barrier effect or AdvCoC and if one AdvCoC punch from Healing Clown Luffy whose 100 hits are tanked by Lucci busted Kizaru's brain, Rayleigh who is Literal CoC master, a character with whom Oda introduced CoC, a character who taught CoC to Luffy whose specialty is CoC and whose CoC (in old age mind you) was compared to Shanks' CoC

Rayleigh could have straight up murdered an Admiral right there if he wanted to lmao

He can have Brook jab at him as some type of gag or something but when Rayleigh faces him he tries to make up excuses to have him not win and in Egghead he just makes Zoro goof around for no fucking reason against Lucci even though he could always kill him with one blow just so he can't see Kizaru

Kizaru is human apart from his Logia affinity but even that is countered by Haki.
Swordsman are worst Match Up to logia type users.
Even shishisonson would temperarily knock out kizaru.

I think adv haki was not a concept yet at oda's mind. Old ray non rusty should be comparable to old garp and we see how old garp was handling aokiji. Add to that ray will have more lethal attacks compared to garp.

The only thing to say for Kizaru is that he may have potential awakening.

Indeed. I also don't like the notion that Kizaru "restricted" himself to swordsmanship. In fact, Kizaru saw swordsmanship - using his named blade Ama no Murakumo - to engage Rayleigh in cqc as the most viable way. What else would Kizaru's options be? Yasakani no Magatama, which was outrun by Sentomaru? Lasers in general which Sanji could kick away? Using Ama no Murakumo was Kizaru's best shot and even then, he was asking Rayleigh not to embarrass him, as later had his attention turned to the strawhats and Kuma.

It’s the other way around. If Kuma didn’t save the Strawhats, Rayleigh would have just found himself captive alongside them.
