It's a bit dumb and hypocritical seeing some people downplay the Gorosei and Kizaru for not defeating and killing the Straw Hats at Egghead, when even a Yonko and her entire pirate crew couldn't do anything either.
Just like how Oda used plot to hold back Big Mom during WCI, he is doing the same thing with the Gorosei and Kizaru at Egghead.
Other than not being able to kill the Straw Hats because of plot, the Gorosei don't want to destroy Egghead, that is also one of the reasons why Kizaru couldn't go all out either.
Before anyone says that WCI had more tension, ehhhh kind of but not really.(Still more tension than Wano at least)
Chapter 871: The chapter were the BMP defeats almost everyone, in that same chapter, the tamatabako explodes pretty much saving everyone.
In both arcs, we had someone sacrificing themselves to save the Straw Hats.
In WCI it was Pedro who sacrificed himself to save the Straw Hats and Carrot.
And in Egghead it was Atlas who sacrificed herself to save the Straw Hats and Lilith.
Remember this right here? Don't worry they are perfectly fine in the next chapter and Big Mom never used that attack ever again.
Remember when we thought that Oven killed Pound? Yeah don't worry he ended up surviving.

Chapter 897: It looks like Sanji and Luffy might done for. Nope don't worry, in the same chapter, the Germa comes in and saves them.
Damn it looks like this is the end.

Also despite the cliffhanger of the arc, guess what? Jinbe and the Sun Pirates all managed to escape, and even the entire Germa with the exception of Niji and Yonji also managed to escape.
Honestly Egghead isn't any different than WCI when you think about it.
You have moments like when it seems the Pacifistas are going to shoot them down and kill them, only in the next chapter they are fine.
Oh no Bonney is about die. Nope don't worry, she ends up being fine.
Warcury is about to crash into the Elbaf Ship. Don't worry Emet comes in and saves them.
Also reminder that when it comes to the Gorosei mainly Warcury, Mars, and Ju Peter.
G5 Luffy couldn't do anything to Warcury and then you have Luffy, Dorry, and Brogy running away from him.
It took Luffy, Bonney, Sanji, and Franky all together just to send Mars away.
Emet a powerful robot from the void century needs to be used to stall two of the Gorosei, one of whom Ju Peter easily bit its arm off like nothing.
Some are saying that Egghead has zero tension, and while that is kind of true.
Remember it's because of the Giants and Emet's help, Atlas and Edison's sacrifice, and maybe soon Kizaru(If it does happen) that the Straw Hats and others will be able to escape from Egghead.
The problem right now, is that some people either have recency bias or they are just blinded by power levels that they simply ignore the plot.
