I remember the first time you started bitching about my posts was back when i made a comment about the nuclear power of Brazil. I get what is going on here. Don't be ashamed of your nation, bro. We will get there eventually, just don't vote left and things will get better faster.
You care so little about politics you just got GIGA triggered over some comments on political thread. Esconde o choro não.

You made 7 posts and none of them are arguments against anything i said. If there is anyone acting stupid here, its you. I have debates with other users. With you its seems to be just insult jousts. I know what you will say "i don't debate the likes of you cause blah blah blah." Words in the wind.
This kind of shit right here is why I feel ashamed to say I'm brazilian
Will you cook up any arguments or are you going to bitch like Pero?

if you don't know what we are talking about, why butt in? "Schyzos comments" At least be original and cook up your own insults. Stop copying whatever nonsense Pero posts. I'm still waiting for Pero to actually adress my original posts with arguments. All i have seen are low quality baits so far. His saltiness definitely looks so lame. At least the euro/american left guys cook arguments. All pero does is bitch and moan.

I have been banned 3 times in this forum. 2 times for exchanging messages with people from a certain religion and 1 for a bad taste joke. All the others were asked by me. Still waiting for you to actually cook arguments about those posts:pepecopium:

That's a fallacious reasonning. You are explaining what would happen in reality if there was no meritocracy, but reality works differently.

In reality, without the BELIEF in meritocracy, we would live in the world without inequalities. Why ? Because this belief is the acceptation of those inequalities.
We would still live in a world where the results of someone's work and effort would yield more fruit compared to others regardless.

There's always bound to be some sort of difference in wealth, social standing, health, or any other accomplishment(s) that a person might have over the other.

Maybe it was due to sheer luck, opportunity, but you can't deny that a person had to work in some way starting from the beginning to get there?

Imagine if the chances of someone ever getting a job because he/she worked/studied hard in college or getting some kind of promotion (or reaching a general milestone in his personal life) from his/her drive to succeed is exactly 0? If the chances of accomplishing something is akin to that of a Russian Roulette and those odds can't be increased or manipulated in any way, why bother? That particular viewpoint demoralizes the lives of millions of working class blue-collar, white-collar, and students who aspire to become something in life because they had a desire for it.

I know shit happens in life and not everything will turn out the way you want but without the concept of meritocracy you're basically betting on the results of your life up to chance.

Oh and since this thread is about DEI and affirmative action, it's not as if people of a certain race/color can't just automatically be accepted into the college of their choice (particularly Ivy leagues) either. They're still going to need to compete with people of their own color who have similar top level grades in order to secure a position as a student so there's an element of meritocracy in effect there.

Yes, because we would get rid of toxicity. In our current world, that is not what is happening.

Not necessarily no. That's a fatalist way to see the world.

Those odds can be increased. But only if you are rich and have a maximazed your capitals, which is something only priviledged people can do.

That's why we are fighting to change society. Precisely because a society that stands on the belief of meritocracy is a society that stands on a myth and on a inequal and inequitable system.

Its an unfair society. So we must get rid of the belief in order to create something more fair.

That's who life works under capitalism. Meritocracy is not a belief that gives you more chances. Its a belief that gives more chances for those who already have chances.

Yes, but at least they won't have to strive against systemic racism to get the same chances as others white people.

What you don't understand is that the beginning of some is not the same beginning of others. This is why meritocracy is a myth and will never exist.

In reality, no one has the same chances. We are all products and living alongside our capitals:
- Economic capital : How many money you and your family has. This will usually put your in a specific class of population
- Cultural capital : This is grossly the amount of cultural information you have at your disposal since birth
- Social capital : This is the relationship your family and you will have access to

Those are the main forms of capitals. In function of the difference between those factors, your life will be completely different depending on your situation.

This is why someone who has already a maximization of those capitals at birth will be FAR MORE advantaged than someone who has none.

And this is why meritocracy is not real and will never will be. Those notion completely negates the impact of skill and efforts in the social and economical ascension of a person in life. In other words, you are probably not being payed a good amount of money because you are skilled, but because of your capitals. (even if skill matters, a little little LITTLE bit)

Here is a video explaining capitals :

This is what (shematized) meritocracy AS A BELIEF SYSTEM looks like:

But this is what reality (highly shematized) looks like:

In Blue: Economic capital
In Red: Social capital
In Green : Cultural capital

In purple: Asset accessed because of those Capitals

To get the first skill, some priviledged people won't have to do much. But others will have to fight the entire system.

Meritocracy is and will always be a myth, a false belief

We must get rid of it.

It's just weak rebuttal

Refusing to acknowledge that the world isn't fair,

That people capabilities and outcome of the capabilities varies.
Mate, this was a detailed and documented explanation.

Its not hard to understand how capitals works. Take a second look at the diagram I shared and the video. You missed the point.

DEI should only be in place for people with straight up disabilities. Affirmative action made sense after Jim Crow or some shit. In 2024 it's just a slap to the face to everyone who doesn't fit in here.

Imagine if they're like in order to get more Hispanic people in basketball every 2 pointer by a hispanic person will count as 5. Straight up idiocy.

Public schools and nothing are the same thing down here. There are literal kids that finish highshcool and can't fucking read. My country has one of the worse PISA scores. Public Care is ridiculous. Understaffed, not much infrastructure, lack of supplies...if you really need some intensive treatment. You are fucked. You will die before seeing a doctor.
Tbh this is fault of parents too. I remember my parents studying with me when I had homework and they were always interested in my school life

If your child can't read or write post age of 10 school isn't the problem, the child and parents are
