Controversial Rewatching Naruto has made me realize Kishi doesn't know how to write women.

Naruto is def a fun watch, but I am increasingly frustrated at Kishimoto's inability to have female characters that exist outside of their crushes. Sakura's character in completely dependent on Sasuke and her feelings for him. Same goes for Hinata, Karin, Ino, you name it. These dynamics are some real eye rollers.

Tsunade is lucky her "crush" is dead so she couldn't be focusing solely on that

Kishimoto biggest weakness is woman characters, and developing side characters.

The others teams ceased to be entirely in Shippuden, and it's a miracle Tsunade turned out well

Yeah he’s admitted this. It does hurt the series a bit but it’s not detrimental. He has gotten better with Kushina being fairly compelling in her standalone chapter
