Could Luffy's next power up be "Rubber Armor"?
During Wano we learned that "Advanced" CoA, allows the user to emit their haki a greater distance. Which is good for Luffy to fight better at a distance, but Luffy is a up close fighter.
(What if)
Instead of using his "Advanced" Haki was a burst, instead he emitted it in a steady consistent stream, forming a small barrier around himself. Unlike Hardening that increases his durability, his barrier could stop weak attacks, and things like gun shots from even hitting him.
But the real power comes from combining it with his Gum Gum Fruit.
As a (Pseudo-Awakening/ Partial Awakening), like I said Luffy is a Up close fighter, so while Luffy's "Full Awakening" could be similar to what Doflamingo could do (except with rubber). Luffy still needs to tank attacks and hit back. So I thought of a few powers that the "Rubber Armor" could have.
1) Basic Barrier against weak attacks. The most simple, so Luffy doesn't need to dodge the weak stuff and can focus on the real attacks.
2) firing bullets/cannons back. Luffy as been doing this since the East Blue with Buggy back at the beginning of the series, and even improved it during the timeskip learning to focus, redirect, and even increase the speed and force of the attack back at the enemy. But Luffy still needs to do the (Gum Gum Ballon) to do it, wasting time and engery. Instead the "Rubber Armor" could do it faster and more efficiently.
3) Elastic Engery Redirection. When I first saw Doflamingo use "Awakening", and the theories about what Luffy's could be started, my first thought was using "Elastic Engery". Luffy instead of just taking the attacks, could take the force of the attacks and convert it into elastic engery, either sending shock waves out to lessen the damage, or more fitting for Luffy us it to amplify his own attacks.
