Character Discussion Sabo in empty throne room vs StrawHats on EggHead

Oda made the Strawhat pirates look really bad with the extra long escape. If Saturn isn't out after all that, then damn they look deplorable by comparison. You could blame Oda for not knowing how to coordinate the team better and make them escape faster through team work.

You can't even make the excuse for Oda that he had to dumb down the characters to make up an excuse as to why they should go to EggHead being saved by giants. He could simply make EggHead the next Island and it was sort of expected to be the next Island.

Meanwhile Sabo escapes both the empty throne room with 5 Gorosei + Imu on his own! SOLO! His agility is incredible. Without any awakening. Then he escapes again from Lulusia before a complete Island destruction.

We haven't seen Sabo in a one on one big boss fight, but there's a high likelihood he'd do 100x better. Oda is stalling to much with his shit. He should instead give more character background or side stories or battles, instead of useless chapters.

Are you seriously pretending that the wheelchair guy was able to hold back what Emeth and the giants are struggling with + Imu on top of that?

At best he served as a minor distraction. Sabo is very fast, that's undeniable, he knew there was a small chance he could potentially save Cobra while running away. Imagine that.

Look at Egghead how adamant they are to keep their secrets and destroy the broadcast. Compare that to Sabo seeing Imu, knowing his face and know the Gorosei's true powers and shapes, which not even the marines know. Information the Gorosei still want to keep secret and therefore want to stop the Strawhats from leaving, yet it takes multiple crews to make the escape.

If Gorosei had their way and killed off all SHP and Vegapunk, they'd still kill York and all marines present to keep their secrets SECRET!!

They lost Emeth. I don't care so much about losing 6 VegaPunks, but Emeth was Joyboy's ally.

Sabo has a few minor fleshwounds. Meanwhile several strawhats were either badly hurt or clowned. Sabo was on his own btw.
Sanji got both clowned and hurt.
Zoro lost his pride being saved by his secret admirer and being useless wasn't able to save Atlas.
Nika Bonney outperformed most of them.

Further argument as to why, merely how a character is displayed doesn't mean much:
Luffy looks beat up after merely chasing Kizaru around. Absolutely idiotic moment, yet Oda decided that Luffy needs to take an L there for no reason.
Same goes for Sabo, you imagine he outruns the Gorosei with heavy wounds yeah right and then suddenly recovers. He doesn't even look like the big appetite character that magically recovers after eating.

Oda broke continuity a lot of times. That's not the point here though.

I am just pointing out that somewhere subconsciously Oda still decided for himself the power-levels of the characters. Sabo really outperformed the SHP in Gorosei encounters.

yeah,but i will play devil's advocate and say Sabo mixed himself in the crowd of nobles and made it hard for the Gorosei to attack him. The Elders are in "kill anything that moves" mode in Egghead.

I get what you are saying. However mix in the crowd how? Those nobles would have noticed his "filthy commoner" presence. He must have escaped by jumping around like in the game "Thief Deadly Shadows".

So either way his level of agility is insane by comparison. By Oda's logic he could make the Gorosei drop dead just by having them chase him around. That's a real feat.

If Kizaru is still considered a powerhouse after running around from one opponent and not a bitch, then Sabo is super strong, just based on that fact.

Oh I don't deny that. Sabo will obviously show good feats in future. But against gorosei it wasn't it though. And as for escape , if plot wants anyone can + gorosei didn't want to risk exposure at that time.

Sure there's the fact Sabo only ran away for most part.

However there's not much else he could do 6 vs 1. He was on a reconnaissance mission there and wouldn't be able to fight at all because any major fight would attract attention. He couldn't go strong on any big opponent and outpower them without attracting an awful lot of attention.

Let's say he even had the awakening, where exactly would you expect him to fight and how?

Also you can't downplay agility. Do you really think Sakazouki would have been able to move around that quickly vs those 6?
