Hmm i always thought using a spear might suit Sanji and there really seems to be deep connections, also Killingham is a spear user too which seems no ordinary weapon and has great design so i wonder will Sanji claim it, it would be perfect if it has a Mythical Zoan just like Shamrocks sword.

Also I don't really like Oda as a person (even though I do love OP), so I wouldn't research what jobs he did before making OP
And there's also more to self inserting than just him gooning to women, I didn't know if Sanji was a self insert of him since Sanji has multiple other things to his character like his hatred for his blood family and friendly rivalry with Zoro
Someone like Shanks feels like a far more obvious self insert because Oda constantly goes out of his way to make it so everyone in verse praises him and thinks Shanks is the coolest dude ever

"Praise" and the "coolest dude" ever has nothing to do odas ability to connect with a character.
